Iraldi and Defense Lift NSU To National Title!

 MJ Irlaldi hit two free throws with less than 17 seconds left to go but it was an unlikely source that lifted the Sharks (36-1) to the national title. NSU's offense had averaged more than 100 points per game but it was the defense that got one last stop to seal the 74-73 win at the Ford Center in Evansville and the second Nova Southeastern title in the past three years years. Iraldi who already had the SSC Player Of the Year award added Most Outstanding Player of the DII Tournament to his trophy case. Iraldi had 27 points, Tyler Eberhart added 13, and Dallas Graziani notched 13 to go with nine assists in the contest. Nova got the win despite shooting 38.1 percent from the field, 14.3 percent (3-21) from the 3-point line, and 76 percent (19-25) at the free throw line.The Sharks also won the rebounding battle 40-39. Sharks-Torros Advance To Championship Game.

 The National Championship game is Division II Men's Basketball is set. The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros magical run continued with a 94-83 win in overtime over Dallas Baptist as the two teams traded triples at the end of regulation before CSDH took control in the extra session. The top seeded Nova Southeastern Sharks advanced to the Title game once again with a 94-68 thrashing of Washburn. National Semifinals Set In Evansville

 The Division II National Semifinals are set after four games at the Ford Center in Evansville on Tuesday. In the first game of the day third seeded Dallas Baptist was a 98-85 winner over sixth seeded Lake Superior State. In the second game of the day seventh seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills hung on late for a 86-84 win over the second seeded West Liberty Hilltoppers. The top seed Nova Southeastern was a 102-93 winner over eight seeded Assumption. In the final game of the day Washburn toppled Lenoir Rhyne 90-78. In the Semifinals on Thursday number three seed Dallas Baptist takes on seventh the seventh seeded Torros of Cal State Dominguez Hills. SSC Secures Four Bids To South Regional

 The Sunshine State Conference is well represented in the NCAA South Region of the NCAA DII Men's Basketball Tournament. Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern, Lynn, and Tampa secured bids to the regional announced on Sunday's selection show on NCAA.com   Nova Southeastern won for the 81st straight time at home on Sunday to secure a fourth straight title. The Sharks knocked off Florida Southern 103-89 in Sunday's championship game at Rick Case Arena. The Sharks will be the top seed and host the region. They will take on eight seed Savannah State in the opening round. The Florida Southern Mocs will be the third seed and take on #6 Montevallo. Lynn secured the fifth seed after falling 88-83 to Florida Southern in the SSC Semifinals. The Fighting Knights will battle fourth seeded Valdosta State Saturday. Second Half Woes Persist As Rollins Bounced In SSC Quarterfinals.

 For the second straight meeting with the Florida Southern College Mocs the Rollins College Tars hung for one half with the team that was ranked third in the latest South Region Rankings. For the second straight time the Tars could not keep up with the Mocs in the second half. Ultimately it was a 90-69 win for Florida Southern at Streamline Court inside the Jenkins FieldHouse. With the win the Mocs improve to 24-7 and advanced to a meeting at home with the Fighting Nights of Lynn University in Thursday's Semifinals. The Tars season comes to a close with a 16-14 record.  Rolins scored the first six points of the contest as three of the five Tars started scored in the games first two and a half minutes. The Mocs would get going on the offensive end and after a Jadin Booth basket tie the game at eight. SSC Quarterfinals Get Underway As Rollins Battles Florida Southern In Lakeland

 The Sunshine State Conference Quarterfinals get underway tomorrow (Tuesday 3.4) as the seventh seeded Rollins College Tars (16-13 9-11 SSC) take on the second seeded Mocs of Florida Southern (23-7 14-6 SSC) for the third time this season. The Mocs won each of the first two meetings. You can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and on RollinsSports.TV with Robert Segal and Jim "Shooter" Ferro on the call. Tip time is set for 7 PM from Streamline Sail Arena inside the Jenkins FieldHouse.    Rollins lost three straight to close the regular season, the most recent being a 75-71 loss to #2 Nova Southeastern on the road Saturday.
