Tars Place Six In Double Figures As They Roll Past AUM.
The Rollins Tars improved to 2-0 on the season as they placed six players in double figures in a 101-77 win over Auburn Montgomery. With the loss AUM drops to 1-1 on the year.
Rollins jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in this one. AUM would get to within two (13-11) before a three-point play by Brooks Cluxton. Rollins would extend the lead to 10 (30-20) after Sergey Grisheav drilled a triple at the 5:19 mark of the opening half. After the WarHawks trimmed by the lead to five Rollins would get back to back 3-pointers by Dayton Gumm to expand the lead to 13 (42-29.) A Gumm 3-pointer right before halftime would give Rollins a 47-31 lead heading into the locker room.
After a Hutton Yenor jumper two minutes into the second half Rollins led by 21 (54-33.) The lead would be cut to 12 (64-52) after a Isiah Hart 3-pointer with 11:51 on the clock. Rollins would all but put this one away after a 7-0 run as a Cody Potter 3-pointer made it 82-56 with 8:07 to go. The lead would grow to as many as 30 three different times as the Tars would cruise to the victory.
Grisheav paced the Tars with 15 in this one. Potter, Cluxton, and Gumm each scored 14 for the Tars while Kyle Marion and Hutton Yenor each scored 11. Rollins 58 percent from the field, 63 percent (17-27) from the 3-point line, and shot at a 83 percent clip (10-12) from the free throw line. The Tars won the rebounding battle 40-33. They had 25 assists and 16 turnovers.
The WarHawks were led by James Graham with 18, Bozeman tallied 17, Hart netted 14 to go along with seven assists, while Gilbert Croley scored 13. AUM shot 41 percent from the field, 24 percent (5-21) from the 3-point line, and 88 percent (14-16) at the free throw line. They had 13 assists and 10 turnovers in the contest.
Rollins will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Flagler to battle the Saints. Tip time is set for 7 PM.
