57 Point Second Half Lifts Tars To Upset Of #12 Barry!

 The Rollins Tars used a 14-0 run to start the second half after trailing 44-41 to take a 55-44 lead that they would never relinquish in a 98-92 upset victory over the 12th ranked Barry Buccaneers at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. With the win Rollins improved to 6-4 and 1-3 in the SSC. Barry fell to 7-1 and 2-1 in the SSC after the defeat. 

 The two teams would go back and forth early in this one. A Hutton Yenor 3-pointer for the Tars tied the game at 24 with 8:45 in the first stanza. The Tars would trail for the remainder of the half and it would be 44-41 Barry at the intermission. 

 The Tars would come out as a team on a mission in the second half as they would take what was a three point deficit and turn it into a 11 point lead (55-44.) After a Yenor layup Sergey Grishavev would give Rollins a 46-44 lead A free throw by Kyle Marion would cap the run that gave the Tars the aforementioned 11 point lead. The lead was 12 at the 12:33 mark but a 7-0 Barry run cut it to five before a Cody Potter 3-pointer got the lead back to eight at the 10:14 mark. After a Nick Anderson 3-pointer with exactly seven minutes to go the Rollins lead was just two (67-65) but a bucket by Cluxton stretched the lead to four. After a hoop by the Bucs a 3-pointer by Potter at the 6:12 mark made it 72-67. The lead would cut to two again (74-72) with 5:29 left when a jumper by Marion made it a four point game. A 3-pointer by Landon Kirkwood at the 4:09 mark made it 76-75 but that is as close as the Bucs would get. Marion hit a pair of free throws before a massive corner 3 by Grishaev made it a six point game. Grishaev hit another three at the 1:27 mark to all but seal it at 87-78. Rollins would come away with the 98-92 win. 

 Rollins was paced by Hutton Yenor with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals. Brooks Cluxton added 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists of his own, while Sergey Grishaev six of eight from the field on his way to 18 points, including a pair of massive 3-pointer's down the stretch. Kyle Marion also scored in double figures with 17. 

 Jake Kakar led Barry with 20, Nick Anderson added 15, Michale Schaeffer netted 13, and Marcelo Perez tallied 11. 

 Rollins shot 55 percent in the game, 42 percent (12-27) from the 3-point line, and 71 percent (12-17) from the free throw line. They had 24 assists and just seven turnovers as a team. 

 Barry shot 51 percent from the field, 48 percent (18-38) from the 3-point line, and 40 percent (4-10) at the free throw line. They won the rebounding battle 40-29. The Bucs had 24 assists and 15 turnovers. 

Rollins will be back in action Friday when they head to Las Vegas to take on #1 Lubbock Christian in the Holiday Hoops classic. Tip time is set for 5 PM eastern time.
