Rollins Heads To Lakeland As They Renew Rivalry With Southern To End 2021.

 The Rollins College Tars and Florida Southern Moccasins will renew the oldest rivalry in the Sunshine State Conference when they battle at Jenkins Field House at 4 PM on New Years Eve. Rollins (6-6 1-3 SSC) is coming off a pair of losses in the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas prior to the holiday break losing to top ranked Lubbock Christian and Montana State Billings. The last win for the Tars came against #12 Barry in the last Sunshine State Conference game they played. The Tars average 78.8 points per game, while they give up 79.8 points per contest. The Tars shoot 48 percent from the field and 37 percent from the 3-point line on the season. They shoot 77 percent as a team from the free throw line. The glass is a place where the Tars have struggled as they give up 3.2 more rebounds than the opposition (34.3-37.5.) They average 17.5 assists a game as a team, while they get 7.8 steals per night. Kyle Marion and Hutton Yenor share the team lead in scoring at 17.3 points per night, as Marion looks to break out of a shooting slump. Brooks Cluxton nearly averages double figures at 9.8 points per game, but leads the team getting 8.2 rebounds per contest. Marion leads the team in assists with 43 in 12 contests. 

The Mocs (5-7 2-2 SSC) are coming off a pair of losses in the Mocs Christmas Classic. They lost 89-85 in overtime to LeMoyne before drooping a 82-73 decision to Cedarville on day two. The Mocs have picked up three of their five wins at home this season. FSC is averaging 80.9 points per game while they allow 80.1 points per contest. The Mocs are shooting 44 percent from the field, 36 percent from the 3-point line, and 67 percent from the free throw line on the year. The Mocs are being out rebounded by 3.1 (37-40.1 rebounds per night) for the season. They average 16.3 assists per game but struggle to take care the ball turning it over 17.8 times per night. Four FSC players average double figures on the season led by Xavier Rhodes who is averaging 15.3 points per game, Jack Cassie gets 13.3 per night, Tarik Mcelphin gets 13.1 per contest, and EJ Damberville scores 11.6 points per game. Damberville leads the team in rebounding at 11.5 per night, while Rhodes leads the team in assists getting 58 in 11 contests.

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC. Barry falls to 3-3 and 1-2 in the SSC.   Kyle Marion paced the Tars with 18 points, Matheus Silviera netted 17 and grabbed nine rebounds, John Latimer knocked down three 3-pointer on his way to 16 points, while Hutton Yenor tallied 14. Tars Set To Battle Eckerd Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9. Silveira and McCullough traded dunks before a Silveira jumper trimmed the Panthers lead to one (14-13) five minutes into this one.
