Rollins Knocks Off Eckerd In OT As Yenor Joins 1,000 point Club.

For the second consecutive game the Rollins Tars were a winner in overtime, as they knocked off Eckerd College 84-81 on Wednesday night at Warden Arena. Hutton Yenor also joined the 1,000 point club in the contest. With the win Rollins improves to 9-9 and 4-6 in the SSC. Eckerd falls to 2-11 and 0-10 in the SSC.

Four Tars scored in double figures paced by Kyle Marion with 28, and four steals while Hutton Yenor netted 22. Cade Long and Brooks Cluxton each tallied 14 points as well in the win. Cluxton also had a game high 14 rebounds.

GianFranco Gaffals led the Tritons as he poured in 30 points along with 14 rebounds, Danel Love added 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Swedura chipped in nine.

It was a four point Eckerd lead early before the Tars tied the game at eight after a Dayton Gumm layup at the 12:47 mark of the opening half. The Tritons went on a 9-0 run to take a 17-8 lead before a Yenor triple and a Long layup. Rollins fought back and tied the game at 24 on a Long 3-pointer at the 2:52 mark of the half. Eckerd would finish the half by taking a five point lead (33-28) into the locker room.

Rollins shot 30 percent from the floor, 16 percent (3-19) from the 3-point line, and 83 percent (5-6) at the free throw line in the opening stanza. The Tritons shot 47 percent from the field, 38 percent (3-8) from the 3-point line and 67 percent (2-3) at the free throw line in the opening frame.

Marion went on a personal 5-0 run to knot the game at 33 just over a minute into the second half. After Daniel Love split a pair of free throws Marion continued his hot start to the second half as he nailed a pair of triples to make it 39-36 Rollins with 16:10 on the clock. Baskets by Yenor and Marion would stretch the lead back to seven as the Yenor basket put him into the history books as he has now scored 1,000 points at Rollins. The Tritons would battle back though and regain the lead 53-52 as Atraiel Washington made a layup with 7:58 to go. Down 55-54 the Tars would go on a mini run capped by a Marion 3-pointer with 4:17 left in regulation. The Tars still led by six (64-58) when David Swadura and Marion traded triples. The 3-pointer by Marion gave Rollins a 67-61 lead with 1:23 on the clock. Marion hit a pair of free throws to make it a eight point game (69-61) with 1:02 left but EC would not go away. The lead was seven (71-64) with 35 seconds when a Grafals 3-pointer cut it to four (71-67) with 29 seconds on the clock. Marion would split a pair of free throws and a Swedura 3-pointer made it 72-70 with 13 seconds to go. Yenor made both free throws but a layup at the other end kept it a two point game (74-72) with seven ticks remaining. A Rollins turnover led to Joshua Galoway layup that sent the game into overtime.

Long hit a 3-pointer to open the extra session for Rollins but Love scored at the other end. Cluxton and Yenor each split a pair of free throws to make the Tars lead three (79-76.) A Love layup at the 1:52 mark cut the lead back to one (79-78.) Long knocked down a 3-pointer and Galloway it two free throws to make it 82-80 in favor of the Tars. Cluxton then iced it at the free throw line.
