Tars Fall To NSU Late

 The Rollins Tars (7-8 2-5 SSC) had a chance for an upset but fell 88-82 to #4 Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The Tars were led by 26 points from Hutton Yenor, Dayton Gumm added 17, Cade Long scored 15, and Brooks Cluxton tallied 14 points with 11 rebounds. Rollins shot 53 percent from the field, 40 percent (8-20) from the 3-point line, and 78 percent (18-23) from the free throw line. 

 NSU (14-0 8-0 SSC) got 15 points from Eddie Puisis, Sekou Sylla netted 14, RJ Senaharra tallied 13 along with Lukas Speidel, Kobe Rodgers scored 12, and Nick Smith added 11. The Sharks shot 44 percent from the field, 41 percent (12-29) from the 3-point line, and 67 percent (12-18) at the free throw line. 

 Rollins scored the games first five points and led 13-4 after a Long 3-pointer with 16:47 in the first half. The Rollins lead was 11 (26-15) after a Long layup with 12:14 in the half. The Sharks pulled to within three (33-30) after a Sunahara layup with 7:07 in the half. Yenir hit a 3-pointer to make it a eight point game but NSU would get to within two after a Lukas Speidel 3-pointer at the 3:12 mark. The Tars lead was stretched back to eight (49-41) after a Yenor 3-pointer with 1:15 in the half. Cluxton hit a jumper at the halftime buzzer to make it 51-43 Rollins at halftime. The Tars shot 61 percent from the field, 55 percent from the 3-point line (6-11) and 63 percent (7-11) from the free throw line. 

 NSU shot 40 percent from the field, 33 percent (5-15) from the 3-point line and 75 percent (6-8) from the free throw line. The Sharks came out hot to start the second half and took the lead 52-51 before a Gumm 3-pointer put the Tars back on top. Rollins stretched the lead to nine (61-52) after a Cluxton layup with 15:21 to go. The Sharks and  Tars would then trade five point runs. Kobe Rodgers made a hoop for the Sharks and they were within two (70-68) with 8:08 to go. Sylla hit a 3-pointer to put NSU on top and they stretched that lead to four (76-72.) The Tars got to within one (79-78) after a Gumm layup before a 3-pointer by Puisis made it a four point game. The lead was stretched to seven and the Sharks would ice it at the free throw line.
