Rollins Hosts Tampa In Key SSC Clash.

 The Rollins College Tars (14-11 9-8 SSC) and the University of Tampa Spartans (13-8 9-7 SSC ) meet in a key SSC clash on Wednesday night at Warden Arena in Winter Park. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM.  The Tars are coming off a hard fought 87-84 win at home that competed a season sweep of Saint Leo on Saturday. Hutton Yenor paced five Tars in double figures with 25 points, Dayton Gumm tallied 17, Cade Long netted 16, Kyle Marion added 12 to go along with a team high seven assists, and Brooks Cluxton posted 11 to go with 13 rebounds. The Tars shot 52 percent from the field, 41 percent (12-29) from the 3-point line, and 75 percent (15-20) at the free throw line. Rollins is seventh in the SSC scoring 80.2 points per game while they give up an SSC eighth best 79.7 points per contest. The Tars shoot the ball at a 48 percent clip from the field which is second in the SSC while they shoot 37 percent from the 3-point line which is good fo fourth in the conference. The Tars are second in the SSC shooting 76 percent from the free throw line while they are 11th in the conference on the glass being out-rebounded by 4.2 (34.1-38.3) boards per contest. Hutton Yenor leads the Tars and is fourth in the SSC putting up 20.8 points per game. He is joined by Kyle Marion who is tied for eighth in the conference scoring 17.8 points per contest. Marion is also seventh in the conference shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line. Dayton Gumm leads the team and is ninth in the SSC dishing out 3.9 assists per night. Cluxton scores 11.8 points per game, is second in the SSC grabbing 10.3 rebounds per night as well as leading the SSC shooting 65 percent from the field. 

 Tampa has lost three straight and is coming off a 73-71 loss to Barry on Saturday. Bryan Williams came off the bench to pour in 30 points for the Spartans, Mykah Brown added 17 and Derrick Felder tallied 14. The Spartans shot 31 percent from the field, 34 percent from the 3-point line (10-29) and 88 percent (21-24) from the free throw line. On the season UT scores an SSC fifth best 80.5 points per game while they give up an SSC fourth best 76.8 points per night. They shoot 45 percent from the floor which is eighth in the conference and are seventh in the SSC shooting 35.5 percent from the 3-point line. The Spartans shoot 70.5 percent at the free throw line which is seventh in the SSC and are sixth in the SSC out-rebounding the opposition by 0.2 (37.4- 37.2) rebounds per contest. Max Jones leads the team in scoring putting up 21.8 points per game which is good for second in the SSC, Williams puts up 12.2 per game and Derrick Felder scores 10.8 per night. Martin Lakovic also averages in double figures at 10.6 per contest. Felder also leads the team in assists at an SSC eighth best 4.5 per contest. On the glass Lakovic is sixth in the conference getting 8.3 per game. 

In the first meeting between the two teams on 1/12 Tampa was a 86-77 winner. Jones scored 30 and grabbed 10 rebounds, Lakovic tallied 23 to go along with 11 boards and Felder netted 20 to go with eight rebounds as well as eight assists. The Spartans shot 49 percent from the field in that one, 41 percent (11-27) from the 3-point line and 56 percent (9-16) at the free throw line. 

The Tars were paced in that game by Yenor with 22, Marion had 16, and Cade Long scored 15. They shot 44 percent from the field in the defeat, 38 percent (12-32) from the 3-point line and 50 percent (1-2) at the free throw line.
