Rollins Returns Home To Face Lions.
The Rollins College Tars return home Saturday as they welcome the Saint Leo Lions to Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Rollins (13-11 8-8 SSC) is coming off being upset 87-82 by Eckerd on Wednesday. Three Rollins players scored in double figures in the contest. Kyle Marion paced the Tars with 30, Hutton Yenor poured in 25. and Brooks Cluxton stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. The Tars shot 48 percent from the field, 44 percent (12-27) from the 3-point line and were a perfect eight of eight at the free throw line. In the first meeting with Saint Leo on 1/15 the Tars were a 90-83 winner in overtime. Four players scored in double figures in that one led by 28 from Marion and Yenor with 25. Cade Long added 13 and Dayton Gumm tallied 11. Rollins shot 59 percent from the field, 33 percent (6-18) from the 3-point line and 70 percent (14-20) from the free throw line. Rollins is seventh in the SSC on offense getting 79.9 points per game while on defense they are eighth in the conference giving up 79.5 points per contest. The Tars shoot an SSC second best 48 percent from the floor while they are shooting an SSC fourth best 37 percent from the 3-point line. The Tars are 10th on the glass in the conference getting out-rebounded by 3.9 (34.3-38.2) boards per night. Yenor and Marion are fourth and eighth respectively in the conference in scoring. Yenor puts up 20.6 points per game while Marion gets 18.1 per contest. Cluxton also averages in double figures (11.9 points per game) and is second in the SSC in rebounding (10.1 per contest.) Gumm leads the team in assists at a little under four per game.
Saint Leo (10-12 5-10 SSC) is coming off a 91-74 loss to top ranked Nova Southeastern Wednesday. Grant Disken led the way with 18 in the defeat, Jared Coomer added 14, Sio Francis tallied 13, and Cantia Rahming netted 12. The Lions shot 41 percent from the field, 35 percent (8-23) from the 3-point line and 67 percent (12-18) at the free throw line. Francis leads the team in scoring putting up 14 points per night, Wade Coomer gets 13.5 per contest, Jared Coomer tallies 12.8 per game, and Frank Webb Jr scores 12.2 points and dishes out a team leading as well as SSC second best 6.1 assists per night. The Lions are sixth in the SSC scoring 81.7 points per game while defensively they give up an SSC sixth best 77.7 points per contest, They shoot 48 percent from the field which is third in the conference and are seventh in the conference on the glass being out-rebounded by 1.1 (36.2-37.3) rebounds per night.
