Rollins Travels To Top Ranked Nova Southeastern On Saturday.
The Rollins College Tars will take on the top team in the country when they travel to the Don Taft University Center to face the Nova Southeastern University Sharks. The game is scheduled to tip at 4 PM.
The Tars (14-12 9-9 SSC) had four players score in double figures in a 87-77 home loss to Tampa on Wednesday night. Dayton Gumm led the way with 22 points, Hutton Yenor netted 21, Brooks Cluxton tallied 17 to go along with a team leading nine rebounds, and Kyle Marion chipped in 12. The Tars shot 43 percent from the field, 22 percent (4-18) from the 3-point line and 78 percent (21-27) from the free throw line. Rollins is scoring an SSC seventh best 80.1 points per game on offense while defensively they give up an SSC ninth best 80 points per contest. Rollins is second in the conference shooting 48 percent from the field while they are allowing the opposition to shoot 44.8 percent from the floor which is seventh in the SSC. The Tars shoot 36.7 percent from the 3-point line which is fifth in the conference but the opposition is shooting 34.9 percent which is eighth in the conference. The Tars are second in the SSC shooting 76 percent from the free throw line, while they are at the bottom of the conference being out-rebounded by 4.2 (33.9-38.1) boards per night which is 11th in the league. Hutton Yenor leads the Tars and is third in the SSC getting 20.8 points per game which is also top 25 in all of Division II. Marion is ninth in the conference scoring 17.8 points per contest and is also ninth in 3-point makes per game (2.8.)Nick Brooks Cluxton is also averaging in double figures getting 12 points per night and leads the SSC grabbing 10.2 rebounds per contest. He also leads the conference in field goal percentage shooting at a 64 percent clip. The 10.2 rebounds collected by Cluxton are 15th in the country while his 64 percent shooting is eighth in all of Division II. He is also third in the conference in blocked shots swatting 1.3 shots per night. Dayton Gumm leads the team in assists and is 10th in the conference dishing out 3.8 helpers per night. Yenor and Marion are also fifth and sixth respectively in the conference in minutes played.
In the first meeting with NSU a 88-82 loss on 1.8 Yenor had 26, Gumm scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out five assists, Cade Long added 15, and Cluxton netted 4 to go with 11 rebounds. Rollins shot 53 percent from the floor, 40 percent (8-20) from the 3-point line, and 78 percent (18-23) from the free throw line.
The Sharks (22-0 17-0 MEC) are the only unblemished team remaining in the country. Last time out they were a 96-76 winner over Florida Southern last Saturday. Sekou Sylla paced NSU with 26, Eddie Puisis tallied 17, Johnathan Pierre tallied 14, Nick Smith netted 12 to go along with six assists, and RJ Sunahara scored 11. NSU shot 56 percent from the field, 50 percent (9-18) from the 3-point line and 76 percent (25-33) at the free throw line.
NSU leads the SSC and is second in the country putting up 98.2 points per game. On defense they are fifth in the conference giving up 77.1 points per game. They shoot 51 percent which leads the SSC while the opposition shoots 47 percent which is 11th in the conference on that end of the floor. The Sharks shoot 36 percent from the 3-point line which is sixth in the conference and the opposition shoots 35 percent which is also sixth in the conference. NSU shoots 75.9 percent from the free throw line which is third in the conference, while they are third in the conference out-rebounding teams by 3.6 (37.6-34.0) boards per night. The Sharks also lead the conference in turnover margin and assist to turnover ratio.
Sylla leads the SSC scoring 23 points per game while Sunahara is sixth netting 19 per night. On the boards Sylla is second in the SSC and leads the Sharks grabbing 9.8 per night. Sunahara, Sylla and Eddie Puisis are second, third, and fourth respectively in the conference in field goal percentage while Puisis is also second in 3-point percentage (45.4 percent.) Puisis is fourth in the conference in threes per game (3.1.) Smith leads the SSC and the country in assists getting eight per contest and also leads the SSC in assist to turnover ratio along with steals (3.5 per night.)He also is ninth in the conference in minutes played (34.3 per night.) Sunahara also leads the SSC getting 2.8 blocks per contest.

Puisis led the way with 15, Sylla added 14, Sunahara and Lukas Speidel both had 13, Kobe Rodgers netted 12, and Smith tallied 11 to go with seven assists. As a team the Sharks shot 44 percent, 41 percent (12-29) from the 3-point line, and 67 percent (12-18) at the free throw line.
