Sixth Seeded Rollins To Battle Third Seeded Barry In SSC Quarterfinals In Miami Shores.

 The sixth seeded Rollins Tars (14-14 9-11 SSC) will battle the third seeded Barry Buccaneers (18-7 13-7 SSC) in the Sunshine State Conference Quarterfinals sponsored by S3 design.  At the Barry Sport and Health Center. The game is scheduled to tip at 7 PM.  Rollins fell 93-70 at Lynn on Saturday. It was the team's third consecutive loss. The Tars have upset Barry twice this season and will look for a third straight against the Buccaneers on Tuesday. In the game against Lynn Hutton Yenor paced Rollins with 22, Brooks Cluxton added 19, and Kyle Marion tallied 12. The Tars shot 48 percent from but went just 4-22 (18 percent) from the 3-point line.  They also shot 78 percent (14-18) from the free throw line. 

 In the first meeting with Barry back on December 11th the Tars sprung the upset 98-92. Yenor paced the team with 25 points, Cluxton added 20, Sergey Grishaev scored 18, and Marion netted 17. Rollins shot 55 percent as a team, 44 percent (12-27) from the 3-point line and 71 percent (12-16) from the free throw line. In the second meeting in Miami Shores on 2/5 the Tars were a 80-75 winner. Yenor poured in a game high 28 points, Grishaev netted 15, and Cade Long tallied 11. They shot 47 percent from the field, 36 percent (8-22) from the 3-point line and 75 percent (12-16) at the free throw line. 

 Rollins is sixth in the conference scoring 79.5 points per game while defensively they give up a SSC ninth best 80.4 points per night. The Tars shoot an SSC second best 48 percent from the field as well as sixth in the conference shooting 36 percent from the 3-point line. The Tars shoot 76 percent from the free throw line on the season. Rollins is 11th in the conference being out-rebounded 4.4 (33.2-37.6) rebounds per night. The Tars are third in the league dishing out 17.8 assists per night. 

 Yenor is third in the SSC averaging 21.3 points per contest, while Marion is ninth getting 17.1 points per game. Cluxton averaged 12.1 points per game and is tops in the conference grabbing 9.9 rebounds per contest. Yenor is also seventh in the SSC shooting 49 percent from the field. Marion is ninth in the conference shooting 39 percent from the 3-point line and is 10th making 2.6 3-pointer's per contest. Dayton Gumm leads the team dishing out 3.7 assists per game and Cluxton is third in the conference blocking 1.3 shots per night.Yenor is also fourth in the SSC getting 2.1 steals per game. 

 Barry won two straight to close the regular season. The last time out the Buccaneers beat Saint Leo 99-89. Justinas Marcinkevicius paced Barry with 20, Landon Kirkwood added 15, Toru Dean tallied 14, both Micahel Schaefer and Jake Kakar each had 12 and James Montgomery scored 11. The Bucs shot 53 percent from the field, 48 percent (10-21) from the 3-point line and 83 percent (19-23) from the free throw line. In the first meeting with Rollins, Kakar led the Bucs with 20, Nick Anderson added 15, Schaefer scored 13 and Marcelo Perez netted 11. In the second meeting Marcinkevicius scored 22, Kakar added 14, and Dean added 10. 

 Barry is second in the SSC scoring 90.6 points per game while defensively they allow 81.2 points per night which is 10th in the SSC. Barry shot 47 percent from the field in the regular season which is fourth in the conference while they lead the conference shooting 39 percent from distance. Barry shoots 70 percent from the free throw line which is eighth in the SSC and is second in the conference on the glass out-rebounding opponents by 5.2 (41.7-36.5) boards per night. They average 18.2 assists per game which is second in the conference. Kakar leads the Bucs in scoring at 14.3 points per game, Schaefer is putting up 13.8 points per night and leads the team with a SSC seventh leading 7.2 rebounds per night. Anderson scores 12.6 points per night, Kirkwood scored 10.6 points per night and Marcinkeivicius nets 10.5 points per night.

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC.  The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9.
