Cold Shooting Rollins Throttled By Benedict.

 The Rollins College Tars (1-1) could not find their footing at Benedict College Saturday night and were throttled 76-49 by the Tigers as each team is now 1-1 on the year. 

 The Tars were paced by Hutton Yenor with 19 points and 10 from Cody Potter. The Tars shot a frigid 26.8 percent from the field and 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line. They shot at a 73 percent clip (11-15) at the free throw line. Rollins had 10 assists and 19 turnovers in the contest. 

 Benedict was led by 19 points from Brandon Smith, while Tim Moore scored 16, Malachi McCoy tallied 12, and Brandon Beidelman scored 10 for the Tigers. They shot 43 percent from the field, 34 percent 12-35) from the 3-point line, and were 12 of 13 at the free throw line. 

 Kyle Marion hit a 3-pointer to put Rollins up 5-2 early, a 3-ball by Matheus Silvera would then knot the game at seven. Cam Corcoran would hit a 3-pointer to give Rollins a 10-7 lead before the Tigers scored the next seven points. After a Yenor three-point play a pair of Tigers 3-pointer's by Gob Gabriel would make it 20-13 Tigers with 7:30 in the first half. Benedict would eventually take a 36-19 record into the locker room. 

 Yenor had 11 of the Tars 19 in the opening frame as they shot 25.9 percent from the field in the half and 2-11 from the 3-point line. 

 Benedict was led by 10 from Moore and nine from Smith in the first half. They shot 42 percent from the field and 30 percent from three in the opening stanza. 

 Benedict would score the first nine points of the second half and all but put this one out of reach. The Tigers would cruise from there. 

 Rollins will be back in Saturday when they host Embry-Riddle. Tip time is slated for 4 PM.
