Rollins Pummels Southeastern In Exhibition.
The Rollins College Tars (3-2) were a 94-59 winner as they pummelled Southeastern University at Warden Arena. Rollins was led by five players in double figures in the contest.
Rollins was paced by 16 points from Hutton Yenor, Matheus Silviera added 13, Brooks Kahlert knocked down four triples on his way to 12. Kyle Marion netted 11 and John Latimer tallied 10 to round out the double digit scorers.
Southeastern was led by 11 points from Reggie Mesidor and Aaron Jones scored eight. The game was tied at seven in the early going. The Tars then opened up a seven points (14-7) as they went on a 7-0 run capped by a Yenor dunk at the 13:07 mark in the opening half. Rollins opened up a double digit lead and led 33-16 after a Cody Potter 3-pointer with 5:17 in the first half. The Tars lead was 16 (39-23) at halftime. The Tars shot 51.6 percent in the first half, 33.3 percent (3-9) from the 3-point line and were a perfect four of four at the free throw line. Southeastern shot 26 percent from the floor, 20 percent from the 3-point line, and made both free throw attempts in the opening stanza.
Rollins expanded its lead to 24 in the first 3:30 of the second half after a Long hoop. Rollins would cruise to victory after that point.
The Tars shot 52.2 percent for the game, 44 percent (11-25) from the 3-point line, and 84.6 percent (11-13) from the free throw line. Rollins won the rebounding battle 42-32. They had 25 assists and 16 turnovers in the contest.
Southeastern shot 37.1 percent from the field, 29.2 percent (7-24) from the 3-point line and 66.7 percent (6-9) at the free throw line. They had 15 assists and 22 turnovers on the night.
Rollins will be back in action next Wednesday (11/30) when they travel to Palm Beach Atlantic. Tip time is slated for 730 PM.
