Rollins Rolled by #7 Missouri-St.Louis.
The Rollins College Tars fell in day two of the Holiday Hoops Classic as they were rolled by #7 Missouri St.Louis 91-66. With the loss Rollins falls to 4-6 on the season while the Tritons improved to 11-0 with the victory.
Rollins scored the first six points of the contest as Hutton Yenor made a jumper and they got a pair of baskets by Matheus Silveira. The Tritons would go on a 21-8 run and after a Bowen Sandquist 3-pointer the Tritons led 21-8 with 9:11 to go in the opening half. Rollins trimmed the lead to nine (23-14) after a Jaden Frazier and one at the 7:12 mark of the first half. It would be a 13 points (39-26) lead for the Tritons at the half.
The Tars would get to within 11 a couple of times but they could not get any closer. UMSL would lead by as many as 28 on the way to the victory.
Missouri-St.Louis was paced by Sandquist who made seven 3-pointer's on his way to 27, Mayson Quartlebaum netted 16, Isiah Fuller tallied 12, while Trever Moore chipped in 10. The Tritons shot 50.8 percent from the field, 48.6 percent (18-37) from the 3-point line, and 70 percent (7-10) at the free throw line. They had 30 assists and 11 turnovers in the contest.
The Tars were led by 16 from Yenor, Silveira added 13, and Cam Corcoran tallied nine. Rollins shot 43.4 percent from the field, 30 percent (6-20) from the 3-point line, and 82.4 percent (14-17) at the free throw line. Rollins edged the Tritons on the boards 34-32. They had 17 assists and 21 turnovers in the contest.
Rollins will be back in action one last time in 2022 when they travel to Saint Pete to face Eckerd College. Tip time is slated for 5 PM on 12/29.
