Tars Look To Get Back On Track At Eckerd.

 The Rollins College Tars (4-6 1-2 SSC) look to get back on track after a pair of losses against ranked opponents at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. The Tars take on the Eckerd College Tritons (5-5 2-2 SSC) at the MacArthur Center in Saint Pete.   Rollins was a 91-66 loser to #7 Missouri Saint Louis in the finale in Las Vegas after they fell 59-57 to the #23 Dominican in the opener. In the contest against Dominican the trio of Hutton Yenor (21 points) along with Cade Long and Kyle Marion (13 points each) combined for 47 of the 57 points the team scored. The only other Tars to score on 12/18 when that game were played were John Latimer (five points,) Matheus Silveira (three points,) and Sergey Grishaev (two points.) In the game shot 32 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the 3-point line, and 72.4 percent (21-29) from the free throw line. The Tars lost that day despite holding Dominican to 38.3 percent shooting from the floor, 26.7 percent (4-15) from the 3-point line, and 79.2 percent (19-24) from the free throw line. 

 The following day against #7 UMSL Yenor scored 16 and Silveira tallied 13. They shot 43.4 percent from the field, 30 percent (6-20) from the 3-point line, and 82.4 percent (14-17) from the free throw line. 

 On the season Rollins is tied with Florida Tech for sixth in the conference putting up 79.3 points per game on offense while defensively they are 10th in the Sunshine State Conference giving up 80.1 points per night. The Tars are shooting an SSC third best 48 percent from the field and lead the conference knocking down 45 percent of their 3-point attempts. The Tars are eighth in the conference shooting at a 72.4 percent clip from the free throw line. On the glass the Tars are ninth in the SSC out rebounding the opposition by 0.8 (34.1-33.3) boards per contest. 

 Yenor is third in the SSC and 32nd in the country pouring in 20.1 points per game. Yenor also leads the team and is in the top 25 in the conference in rebounds per game grabbing 5.1 per night. Yenor also leads the Tars with 38 assists on the season. Marion (12.3 points per game) and Silveira (10.1) also average in double figures. Yenor also leads the team in steals with 31. 

 The Tritons are coming off a pair of losses in the Tampa Classic. They lost 79-65 to Flagler on 12.17 before they fell 79-59 to North Georgia the following day. In the game against Flagler Daniel Love led EC with 21, Carr Thiam added 15, and Dante Bouchard netted 11. The Tritons shot a frigid 28.8 percent from the field and just 2-23 (8.7 percent ) from the 3-point line. They shot 83.3 percent (25-30) from the free throw line. 

 The same trio led the way the following day. Galloway and Thiem had 11 each while Love scored 10. As a team they shot 35 percent from the field, 25 percent (6-24) from the 3-point line, and 78.6 percent (11-14) from the free throw line. 

 Eckerd scores an SSC ninth best 77.8 points per game, while defensively they give up an SSC eight best 79.9 points per contest. They are at the bottom of the conference shooting 43.4 percent from the field while they shoot 33.3 percent from the 3-point line which is 10th in the SSC. They are the second best foul shooting team in the league shooting at a 76.9 percent clip from the charity stripe. On the glass EC is sixth in the conference out rebounding the opposition by 3.2 (38.2-35) boards per night. 

 Thiam leads the Tritons and is 10th in the SSC scoring 16.8 points per game. Love joins him in double figures at 15.4 per night. Garard leads the team hauling in 5.2 rebounds per contest. Love leads the teams in assists at 2.3 per night and steals with 21.Galloway has swatted a team high six shots.
