Rollins Routs Warner.
The Rollins Tars improved to 9-9 on the season with a 91-55 rout of the Warner Royals at Warden Arena on Friday night. Hutton Yenor led four players in double figures with 22 points, Matheus Silveira added 17, while both Sergey Grishaev and Cade Long tallied 12. Jaden Frazier had a team leading 15 rebounds in the contest.
The two teams got off to a slow start on offense as the game was knotted at eight six and a half minutes into this one. Rollins then went on a 10-0 run as Yenor scored the last five points of the run including a 3-pointer to make it an 18-8 game with 9:47 in the opening half. After a 3-pointer by Joseph Martz the Royals were within four (20-16) with seven minutes to go in the opening half. After Logan West made it a five point game (23-18) Rollins went on another 10-0 run capped by a Yenor dunk at the 4:05 mark. Rollins stretched the lead to 24 (49-25) at halftime.
Rollins scored the first four points of the second half and did not stop there. Up 56-30 the Tars ran off the teams third 10-0 run of the contest as Jaden Frazier made a jumper with 14:48 to go. A 3-pointer by Rivers Lenholt gave Rollins their largest lead of the game (82-34.) Rollins would end up coming away with a 91-55 win.
Rollins shot 50 percent from the field, 41.7 percent (15-36) from the 3-point line, and 54.5 percent (6-11) from the free throw line. The Tars had 24 assists and nine turnovers as a team. They also won the rebounding battle 49-31.
Warner was paced by West who was the only Royal in double figures with 14 points. Martz added nine points and Myrick Davis chipped in eight. The Royals shot 32.8 percent from the floor, 30.6 percent (11-30) from the 3-point line and 50 percent (2-4) from the free throw line in the contest. They had 15 assists and 11 turnovers as a team.
Rollins will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Fort Lauderdale to take on #2 Nova Southeastern. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM.
