Seventh Seeded Rollins Looks To Play Spoiler In The SSC Quarterfinals Tuesday.

  The seventh seeded Rollins College Tars (14-14 10-10 SSC) will look to win for the second team in three meetings against the second seeded Saint Leo Lions (22-9 13-7 SSC) to begin the SSC Tournament Tuesday night. Being the higher seed Saint Leo will be the hosts of this one. Tip time is set for 7 PM at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. 

 Rollins is coming off a 94-87 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic at home to close out the regular season. Hutton Yenor led five Tars in double figures with 30 points, Kyle Marion added 19, Matheus Silveira notched 14, while Cade Long and John Latimer tallied 11 and 10 points respectively off the bench. Rollins scored 80 points per game in the regular season which is good for sixth in the conference. On the defensive end the Tars struggled in the regular season giving up an SSC ninth best 81.5 points per night. The Tars shot a solid 48.3 percent from the field during the season which is third in the league while defensively they were fifth best allowing the opposition to shoot 45.3 percent. The Tars shot an SSC fourth best 38.5 percent from the 3-point line while the opponent shot the same percentage which made Rollins 10th in the SSC in 3-point percentage against. Rollins is fourth in the SSC shooting 76.5 percent from the free throw line. On the glass the Tars are ninth in the conference being out rebounded by 0.5 (34.9-35.4) rebounds per night. 

 Yenor leads the team and is third in the conference putting up 20.1 points per game. He also leads the team on the glass grabbing 5.5 rebounds per contest. The Timber Creek product is second on the team and eighth in the SSC dishing out 3.3 assists per game, he shoots 49 percent from the field, leads the team and is second in the SSC getting 2.4 steals per contest while he plays 33.7 minutes per game which is sixth in the conference. Marion scores 13.6 points per game, leads the team with an SSC fourth best 4.1 assists per contest and is eighth in the SSC collecting 1.7 steals per night. He plays 30.9 minutes per contest which is top 15 in the league. Silveira rounds out the double digit scorers averaging 12.5 points per game, leads the SSC in field goal percentage (62 percent) and is seventh in the conference blocking one shot per night. 

 In the first meet with Saint Leo, a 98-95 overtime win for the Tars in mid-January Yenor had 27, Grishaev added 21, Marion scored 19, and Long notched 12. In the second meeting in February, a 89-75 loss to the Lions Yenor had 17, Latimer had 16, and Silveria notched 12. 

 Saint Leo comes into Tuesday night as the second seed in the tournament and they were ranked ninth in the latest South region rankings (new ones to be released tomorrow.) The Lions have won four straight. The most recent being a 87-53 drubbing of Eckerd Saturday. Kanon Koster led the way for Saint Leo with 27, Marty Jackson netted 16, and Grant Disken tallied 14. 

 The Lions average 84.2 points per game which is good for third in the SSC. Defensively they are allowing just 73.9 points per game which is good for second in the conference. They shoot an SSC second best 52 percent from the field as well as being second best allowing the opposition to shoot just 43 percent from the floor. The Lions are also second in both 3-point percentage (40 percent) and 3-point percentage against (32 percent.) At the free throw line Saint Leo shoots an SSC third best 77 percent. On the glass they are seventh in the conference out-rebouning the opposition by 0.1 (34.1-34.0) rebounds per contest. 

Jackson leads the team and is eighth in the conference putting up 18.1 points per game. He leads the team and is ninth in the SSC grabbing six rebounds per night. He shoots 57 percent from the field which is fifth in the SSC and he is fourth in the SSC blocking 1.1 shots per contest. He is also 10th in the SSC playing 31.6 minutes per night.  Koster is ninth in the conference putting up 18 points per game. He is also eighth in the field goal percentage in the SSC (52 percent.) Disken leads the team in assists at 2.9 per game to go with his 13.2 points per contest.  

 In the first meeting with Rollins in mid-January (an overtime loss) Koster had 29, Jackson added 25, Jared Coomer notched 20, and Disken tallied 11. While in the second meeting in mid-February (a 89-75 Lions win) Koster poured in 35, while Jackson contributed 29.
