Three Tally Double Figures As Rollins Falls At Home To Saint Leo.

Three Rollins College Tars (12-13 8-9 SSC) scored in double figures but it was not enough as the Saint Leo Lions (19-9 10-7 SSC) knocked off Rollins 89-75. Rollins was paced by Hutton Yenor with 17, Jon Latimer came off the bench to score 16, and Matheus Silveira tallied 12.

Kanon Koster poured in 35 points to lead the Lions, Marty Jackson added 29, and Logan Ryan chipped in nine.

The lead changed hands several times in the first seven minutes until Rollins got back to back baskets by Latimer off the bench to take a 16-13 lead. Latimer knocked down a triple to extend the lead to 19-15 at the 11:11 mark of the first half. Jackson would hit a jumper for the Lions to knot the game at 25 before Kyle Marion and Jaden Frazier would hit jumpers to make it a four point Rollins lead. The 3-pointer by Cam Corcoran at the 5:08 mark would give the Tars a five point advantage (34-29.) Saint Leo would take the lead on a jumper and a 3-pointer by Koster in the final minute. After a hoop and foul that saw Marion make the ensuing free throw Rollins trailed 42-41 going into halftime.

Saint Leo shot 56 percent in the opening half and 20 percent (2-10) from the 3-point line. They made both free throws they attempted in the opening stanza.

Rollins shot 60 percent in the opening 20 minutes, 29 percent (2-7) from the 3-point line, and were a perfect three of three at the charity stripe.

Grant Disken hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring for Saint Leo in the second half. After a Ryan Logan three-point play the Lions lead was nine (54-45.) Cade Long hit a 3-pointer but Saint Leo countered with the next five points. Another 3-pointer by Long after a Silveira hoop got Rollins within six (59-53.) Once again it was Logan who knocked down a 3-ball. After a pair of Latimer free throws at the 10:01 mark Rollins trailed by five (64-59.) After a Latimer three-point play and a Yenor hoop we were knotted at 66 with 8:26 to play. A Silveira dunk would put Rollins back on top. That would not last long as a quick 8-0 run by the Lions capped by a Marty Jackson 3-pointer would make it 74-68 in favor of the visitors with 4:52 to play. Rollins got within four on a Silveira layup but Koster hit a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to nine. A Yenor dunk would cut it to seven (79-72) at the 1:47 mark but a 10-0 run by the Lions would seal it as they came away with the 89-75 win that evened the season series between the two teams.

Yenor was 8-15 from the floor on his way to his team leading 17 points, Latimer was a perfect 6-6 from the floor, 1-1 from the 3-point line and 3-3 at the free throw line on his way to 16 points, while Silveria was 6-9 from the floor for his 12 points.
