Yenor Scores 30 on Senior Day As Sailfish Reel In The Tars.
The Rollins College Tars got 30 points from Hutton Yenor on Senior Day and saw a 16 point lead as well as a nine point halftime lead disappear in a 94-87 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday at Warden Arena. With the loss Rollins concludes the regular season with a record of 14-14 and 10-10 in the SSC. PBA improves to 14-12 and 10-10 in the SSC with the win.
Rollins trailed 5-2 in the early going but they would get 3-pointer's from Cade Long, John Latimer, and Yenor to take a 11-5 lead at the 16:42 mark of the opening half. The Sailfish would battle back and tie the game at 13 after Alexa Rakic 3-pointer at the 15:18 mark of the opening stanza. Rollins would go on a 12-0 run capped by a Kyle Marion triple that made it 25-13 at the 13:01 mark of the first stanza. The lead would be stretched to 14 (33-19) as Long nailed a triple at the 10:23 mark of the opening half. The lead would grow to as many as 16 (48-32) after Yenor hit a pair of free throws with 3:39 in the opening stanza. The Sailfish would trim the lead to nine (55-46) at halftime.
In the opening half Rollins shot 56 percent from the field and went 11-16 (69 percent) from the 3-point line. The Tars were a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line in the opening stanza.
The Sailfish shot 64 percent from the field and 64 percent (9-14) from the 3-point line in the opening half. They shot 56 percent (5-9) from the free throw line in the opening frame.
Rollins would stretch the lead to double digits once again (68-57) after a Yenor triple at the 14:20 mark. PBA would go on a 9-0 run as Rollins went cold from the field. It was a two point game (68-66) with 10:51 on the clock. Matheus Silveira made a layup right at the halfway mark of the second half to stretch the lead back to four. Another 9-0 run by PBA gave them a five point lead (75-70) as Marcus Montavalo hit a 3-pointer with 7:49 remaining. The Tars battled back and knotted the game at 77 after a Silveira hoop at the 5:28 mark. The next seven points went to PBA and they were in control. After a Yenor free throw at the 3:05 mark the Tars were within four (84-80.) Rollins would get to within two (86-84) on a Marion 3-pointer with 2:29 to go but that is as close as the Tars would get as the Sailfish completed the season sweep.
Yenor led five Tars in double figures with 30 points. Marion added 19, Silveria had 14, Long netted 11, and Latimer contributed 10 off the bench. Rollins shot 52 percent from the field, 61 percent (14-23) from the 3-point line, and 75 percent (9-12) at the free throw line. They had 18 assists and eight turnovers in the contest.
PBA was paced by Jalen Cooper who had 33 points and 10 rebounds. Will Lee added 23 to go with nine assists and five rebounds, Rakic had 12, and Montalvo tallied 10.They shot 62 percent from the field, 54 percent (13-24) from the 3-point line, and 77 percent (17-22) at the free throw line. The Sailfish won the rebounding battle 28-25. They had 21 assists and eight turnovers in the contest.
Rolllins will now turn their attention to the SSC Tournament where they will take on the Saint Leo Lions on Tuesday night.
