SSC Gets Two In South Region.

 Two teams from the Sunshine State Conference were selected for bids to the NCAA South Region on Sunday evening. The top ranked team in the country Nova Southeastern was the top seed as expected and the Embry-Riddle Eagles punched there ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a run to the Sunshine State Conference Finals before losing to the undefeated Sharks 92-69 on Sunday. 

 Nova is the top seed in the region and will take on eighth seeded Miles. In the 4 vs 5 matchup it will be Lee taking on West Georgia. West Alabama is the two seed and will battle seventh seeded Tuskegee. Rounding out the region will be third seeded Alabama-Huntsville taking on sixth seeded ERAU.

(4) Lee (20-7) vs (5) West Georgia (20-9)

Rollins Knocks Off Barry.

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC. Barry falls to 3-3 and 1-2 in the SSC.   Kyle Marion paced the Tars with 18 points, Matheus Silviera netted 17 and grabbed nine rebounds, John Latimer knocked down three 3-pointer on his way to 16 points, while Hutton Yenor tallied 14. Rollins shot 55.8 percent from the field, 57.1 percent (8-14) from the 3-point line, 74 percent (20-27) from the free throw line.  Nick Anderson led Barry with 29, Malik Stanley scored 12, and both Jason Williams and Rusty Moorer scored 10. Tars Set To Battle Eckerd Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. You can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com and on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park with Jim "Shooter"Ferro and Robert Siegel on the call.   Rollins (8-9 3-6 SSC) is coming off a 90-83 overtime win at Saint Leo on Saturday. The Tars were led by 28 points from Hutton Yenor, Kyle Marion added 25, Cade Long tallied 13, and Dayton Gumm scored 11. They shot 59 percent from the field and 33 percent (6-18) from the 3-point line in the contest. They also shot at a 70 percent clip (14-20) from the free throw line. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9. Silveira and McCullough traded dunks before a Silveira jumper trimmed the Panthers lead to one (14-13) five minutes into this one.
