Lions Sink Tars Wednesday Night.

 The Lincoln University Lions improved to 2-1 on the season as they knocked off the Rollins College Tats (0-2) 80-73 at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center Wednesday night. Rollins had three players in double figures in the loss as Kyle Marion poured in 27 points, Matheus Silveira added 19, while Cody Potter stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in the losing effort. 

 The first four points went to the Lions before Cody Potter would score the next five to give Rollins a brief 5-4 lead. Bakir Cleveland and Kyle Marion would trade triples and it was 13-12 in favor of the visitors from PA. The game would be tied at 19 at the 12:36 mark of the first half before Lincoln would run off five straight points. Another Marion triple cut the Rollins deficit to two (24-22.) It would ultimately be 37-31 Lincoln at the break. 

 After an Aidan Anderson layup at the 16:07 mark it would be a nine point deficit (46-37) for the Tars. Silveira would go on a personal 6-0 run to cut the leaf to three (46-43.) After another basket for the Lions Braxton Barnhizer buried a triple to cut the Tars deficit to two (48-46) at the 13:33 mark. Marion would then hit a jumper to knot the game at 48. After a Manny Toha 3-pointer the Lions lead was back to seven (59-52) with 9:15 to go. A 3-pointer by Cleveland made it an eight point game after a Jaden Frazier hoop for the Tars. A Toha three-point play would stretch the lead to 11. After a Toha triple and two free throws by Cleveland the lead swelled to 14 (70-56) with 5:36 to go. Rollins would make a run of their own though. A Barnhizer 3-pointer, a Silveira hoop, a Dylan Wolle layup and a jumper by Silveira would cut the Rollins deficit th five (70-65) with 1:57 to go. Marion knocked down a couple shots late but the Lions would ice this one at the free throw line. 

 Rollins shot 48 percent from the field, 33 percent (9-27) from the 3-point line, and 75 percent (6-8) from the free throw line in the contest. They had 21 assists and 12 turnovers as a team. Marion added eight assists and five rebounds as well as a pair of blocks to go with his 27 points. Silveira had six blocks to go with his 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Rollins won the rebounding battle 31-30. 

 Lincoln also had three players in double figures. Cleveland led the way with 21, Toha had 13, and Peter Sorber netted 11. The Lions shot 53.7 percent as a team, 46.7 percent (7-15) from the 3-point line, and 78.9 percent (15-19) from the free throw line. 

Rollins will be right back on the home hardwood on Friday when they take on Warner. Tip time against the Royals is set for 2 PM.
