Tars Open Conference Play In Melbourne

The Tars (3-2) will hit the road for the first time this season after going 3-2 in the opening home stand. Last time out the Tars took care of Puerto Rico Bayamon 105-68 led by 26 points from Matheus Silveira. Four other Tars scored in double figures in the win. Rollins comes into tonight's contest ninth in the conference in scoring at 79.4 points per game. On the defensive end they are fourth in the SSC giving up 69.8 points per contest. Rollins shoot an SSC ninth best 46.9 percent from the floor and are 10th in the SSC shooting 30.1 percent from the 3-point line. Rashaan Edwards (13.8 points per game,) along with Chase Thompson and Neil Harris (13.2 points per game) lead the Panthers (5-0) in scoring. Last time out the Panthers were a 88-45 winner over Puerto Rico Mayaguez. Thompson led three Florida Tech players in double figures with 15 in the contest. David McCullough (11.5 points per game) and Max Polk 10.4 points per game also average double figures in the early season. McCullough leads the team and is ninth in the SSC grabbing 8.3 rebounds per contest. Thompson is shooting an SSC eighth best 60.5 percent from the floor and is 10th in the SSC shooting 47.4 percent from the 3-point line. Edwards is third in the SSC making 2.4 triples per night. Edwards (6.8) and Harris (4.2) are second and eighth respectively in the SSC in assists per game. Edwards and Harris sit fifth and respectively in assist to turnover ratio as well. McCullough and Elias Martin (1.8 which is fourth) and Elias Marin (1.0 which is 10th) are in the top 10 in the conference in blocked shots. Harris is 10th in the SSC in minutes played at 30.4 per game.
As a team the Panthers score an SSC sixth best 85.6 points per game while defensively they give up an SSC seventh best 75.3 points per night. The Panthers lead the league in both field goal percentage (53.1 percent) and opponent field goal percentage (32.1 percent.)
