Tars Set To Battle Royals in Winter Park Friday.
The Rollins College Tars will take on the Warner Royals at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center on Friday afternoon. Tip time is set for 2 PM and you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and on SunshineStateConference.TV
Rollins (0-2) has suffered a pair of tight losses in the last week. In the opener the Tars fell 65-63 in overtime to Spring Hill College (Alabama.) Cody Potter (11 points) and Braxton Barnhizer (10) were the only Tars in double figures. Rollins had a three point lead and gave a 3-pointer late in regulation that sent the game to the extra session. In game two against the Lincoln Lions the Tars fell 80-73 despite a monster game from Kyle Marion (27 points, eight assists, and five rebounds.) Matheus Silveira scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists, and swatted six shots in the defeat. Potter added 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the loss. Marion leads the team in scoring at 16 points night as well as dishing out a team leading 4.5 assists per contest. Silveira averages 13.5 points per game and leads the team in blocked shots with seven. Potter rounds out the double digit scorers at 12 points per night as well as leading the team grabbing 7.5 rebounds per night.
Former Rollins assistant Sean Hannrahan brings his Warner Royals to town on Friday, After starting the season 2-0 the Royals record now stands at 2-2. Logan West leads Warner in scoring at 17.5 points per game, Blaize Darling puts up 14.5 per night, while Christian Nurse also posts double figures putting up 10.3 points per contest. Darling leads the team on the glass grabbing 6.3 rebounds per contest while Styler Scull leads the team with eight assists on the year.
