Tars Jump Back Into SSC Play With Home Contest Against Lynn.
The Rollins College Tars jump back into conference play when they take on the Lynn Fighting Nights at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center tomorrow (12/9) afternoon. Tip time is set for 4 PM and you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and on SunshineStateConference.TV
Rollins (3-4 0-2 SSC) is coming off a 85-70 road loss to Palm Beach Atlantic last time out. Matheus Silveira posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to pace Rollins. Dylan Wolle (12 points) and Jack Kronague (10) had career highs for the Tars in the defeat. Rollins scores 77.1 points per game which is good for 10th in the conference, on the defensive end they are giving up an SSC sixth best 75.7 points per night. The Tars shoot 46 percent from the field which sits ninth in the SSC while defensively they are 10th allowing the opponents to shoot 44.8 percent. Rollins is at the bottom of the conference shooting 30.9 percent from the 3-point line as well as defending the 3-point line as the opposition shoots 36.4 percent from long range. The Tars lead the SSC shooting at an 81 percent clip from the free throw line while they are eighth in the SSC with a +2.3 (35.9-33.6) rebound margin. Rollins is seventh in the conference in turnover margin as they turn the ball over 14.1 times per game to 14.3 for the opposition.
Silveira leads the Tars in several categories. He is the teams top scorer with an SSC best 18.1 points per game, top rebounder (six per night,) field goal percentage (an SSC third best 63.5 percent) and blocked shots with two per game (fourth in the SSC.) Kyle Marion puts up 14.9 points per game while he lads the team with an SSC fifth best 4.6 assists per contest. Cade Long is right behind Marion and eighth in the SSC dishing out 4.1 assists per night. Marion also leads the team and is tied for sixth in the SSC getting two steals per game. Cody Potter leads the Tars and is 10th in the SSC shooting 48.1 percent from the 3-point line.
Lynn (3-1 0-1 SSC) is coming off a 101-87 win over Ave Maria last time out. They lost to #1 Nova Southeastern in their lone SSC game thus far. Against Ave Maria four Fighting Knights scored in double figures led by Travis Thompson with 23 points. Nordin Kapic added 21, Ben Gahlert chipped in 17, and Brad McCabe tallied 11.
Lynn scores an SSC third best 88.5 points per game while on defense they give up an SSC 10th best 83 points per night. The Fighting Knights shoot 46 percent from the field which is eighth while they are seventh allowing the opponents to shoot 43 percent from the floor. Lynn shoots 34.6 percent from the 3-point line which is ninth while the opposition shoots 32.7 percent which puts them seventh in the conference on the defensive end. Lynn shoots an SSC eighth best 71.3 percent from the free throw line while on the glass they are fourth out rebounding the opposition by five (43-38) rebounds per contest. The Fighting Knights are sixth in turnover margin as they turn it over 12.8 times per night to the oppositions 13 per night.
Kapic is fifth in the SSC and leads the Fighting Knights scoring 18 points per game. He is also sixth in field goal percentage shooting at a 58.5 percent clip in the conference. Thompson scores 15.3 per game and Gahlert nets 14 per contest. Kapic grabs 8.5 rebounds per game which is seventh in the SSC while Jalen Gilmore leads the team and the SSC dishing out 6.5 assists per night.
