Tars Travel To PBA

Rollins (3-3 0-1 SSC) is coming off a 96-73 loss to Florida Tech in the conference opener on Tuesday night. Kyle Marion led the Tars with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in the contest. Matheus Silveira added 19 points and Braxton Barnhizer added 11. Rollins averages 78.3 points per game which is 10th in the SSC while defensively they give up an SSC fifth best 74.2 points per night. The Tars shoot 47.1 percent which is seventh in the conference while the opposition shoots 43.6 percent which is eighth. The Tars are ninth in the SSC shooting 31.7 percent from the 3-point line while the opposition shoots 36.2 percent which makes them 10th in that category. The Tars lead the SSC shooting at an 85.1 percent clip from the free throw line. On the glass the Tars are ninth being out rebounded by 1.8 (35.5-33.7) rebounds per contest. Silveria is fifth in the SSC putting up 18.2 points per game while Marion is just outside the top 10 in the conference putting up 16.3 points per night. Cody Potter also averages in double figures at 10.7 points per night. Potter also leads the team in rebounding at 6.5 per game Silveira is also third in the conference shooting 64.4 percent from the field. Marion is fourth in the conference in assists at 4.8 per game and is also second in assist to turnover ratio. Silveria is fourth in the SSC in blocked shots at 2.2 per game while Marion is fourth in steals at 2.2 per night. Potter is eighth in the conference making 2.2 triples per night and his 50 percent shooting from long range is fifth in the SSC.
The Sailfish (6-1 1-0 SSC) have won five straight. Their lone loss was a 10 point setback to West Georgia in the second game of the season. Last time out the Sailfish edged Barry 82-80 on the road. Marcus Montalvo had 17, Dan Braster and Grant Ledford each had 15, while Will Lee and Jamaal Walker tallied 12. The Sailfish are fourth in the SSC putting up 87.6 points per game while defensively they are third in the conference giving up 69.3 points per night. PBA shoots 47.9 percent which is sixth in the conference while the opposition shoots 39.9 percent which is the second best defensive mark in the conference. On offense the Sailfish shoot 31.5 percent from three but on the defensive end they are holding opponent to 28.1 percent which is tops in the SSC guarding the 3-point line. PBA is sixth in the conference shooting 72.8 percent from the free throw line while on the glass they are second in the conference getting 6.8 (41.4-34.6) more rebounds than the opposition. Braster leads PBA in scoring at 16.2 points per game, he is joined in double figures by Lee (12.4 ppg,) McNair and Walker (10.3 per night) and Montalvo (10 per game.) Braster's 8.7 rebounds per game lead the Sailfish and is sixth in the conference on the glass. Braster also leads the team in assists at 3.3 per night as well as blocking 1.1 shots per game which is tied for sixth in the SSC.
