Rollins Routs Florida Tech In Wire To Wire Win As Four Tars Score In Double Figures In 87-71 Win.

 Cade Long paced the Rollins Tars with a season high 21 points, Matheus. Silveria added 21 of his own, Sergey Grishaev continued his surge of late with 19, and Kyle Marion tallied 13 in a 87-71 win for the Rolins College Tars on Tuesday night at Warden Arena. With the win Rollins improves to 6-13 and 3-9 in the SSC. The Panthers fall to 12-6 and 5-6 in the SSC and stay winless in true road games on the season. 

 Rollins jumped out to a 8-0 lead in this one and never looked back. The Tars would go on a quick 5-0 spurt to open a 20-10 advantage on a Long jumper at the 10:20 mark of the first half. After back to back Long 3-pointer's the last being at the 7:45 mark of the first half Rollins led by `5 (29-14.) It was an 11 point lead (39-28) Rollins lead heading into the locker room. Rollins shot 45.7 percent in the opening stanza, 45.5 percent (5-11) from the 3-point line, and 66.7 percent (2-3) from the free throw line. 

The Panthers shot 32 percent from the field, 27.3 percent (3-11) from the 3-point line, and 81.3 percent (9-11) from the free throw line in the opening stanza. 

 The Rollins lead was trimmed to single digits (41-32) on a David McCullough dunk but Rollins went on a 7-0 run to stretch the lead back to 16 (48-32) after a pair of Grishaev free throws. The lead swelled to 26 (62-36) on another Grishaev jam. The Panthers pulled to within 15 (68-53) on a Edwards 3-ball with 9:57 to go. Rollins would lead by double digits the rest of way and come away with a 87-71 win. 

 Long had 21, Silveira added 21, Grishaev netted 19, and Marion notched 13 for the home team. Braxton Barnhizer added a team high nine rebounds and eight assists in the contest. As a team Rollins shot 50 percent from the field, 43.8 percent (7-16) from the 3-point line, and 66.7 percent (14-21) at the free throw line as they averaged a loss to the Panthers back in November. Rollins won the rebounding battle 40-32. They had 22 assists and six turnovers in the contest. 

FIT was paced by Edwards who had 17, Elias Martin added 16, and McCullough tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds. FIT shot 42..1 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent (10-30) from the 3-point line, and 68.4 percent (13-19) from the free throw line. They had  17 assists and 12 turnovers in the contest.

 The Rolling bench outscored the Panthers bench 30-13 as well. Rollins will be back in action on Saturday when they host Palm Beach Atlantic. Tip time is slated for 4 PM.
