Rollins Set To Battle Florida Tech In Rare Tuesday Evening Tilt In Winter Park

 The Rollins College Tars (5-13 2-9 SSC) take on the Florida Tech Panthers (12-5 5-5 SSC) in a rare Tuesday night tilt at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Tip time is set for 6 PM and you can catch all the action on SunshineStateConference.TV and 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park.  

 Rollins is coming off a 110-62 loss to Nova Southeastern on the road last time out. Sergey Grishaev (20) and Dylan Wolle (12) combined for 32 points in the lopsided defeat at Rick Case Arena. Rollins averages an SSC worst 73.9 points per game, shoots at a 44.1 percent clip from the floor which is 10th in the conference, shoots an SSC worst 30.1 percent from long distance, The Tars shoot at a 74.3 percent clip from the free throw line which is good for sixth in the conference. Defensively the Tars give up an SSC ninth best 82.6 points per game, they hold the opposition to 43.7 percent from the field which is fourth in the conference, 35.3 percent from the 3-point line, on the glass the Tars are 11th in the conference being out rebounded by 3.4 (36.9-40.3) rebounds per night. The Tars are 11th in turnover margin and eighth in assist to turnover ration. Matheus Silveira leads the Tars scoring 16.4 points per game, Silveria continues to lead the SSC shooting at 60 percent from the floor. Kyle Marion scores 13.2 points per game, shoots at a 80 percent clip from the free throw line which is eighth in the SSC, dishes out 3.7 assists per game which is seventh in the SSC and is joined by Cade Long who dishes out 3.7 assists per night. Marion also leads the team in steals at 1.6 steals per game. Grishaev also averages in double figures at 10.9 points per contest. Grishaev grabs 5.4 rebounds per night, and swats 0.9 shots per game. In the first meeting with the Panthers Marion had 21, Silveira had 19, and Braxton Branhizer scored 11 in the 96-73 loss on 11/28.

Rahsaan Edwards paced the Panthers with 14, Nial Harris and Chase Thompson each had 13, Elias Martin added 11, and David McCullough added 10. Edwards shoots 32.3 percent from long range and is second in the conference knocking down 2.5 triples per night. Edwards dishes out an SSC third best 4.4 assists per game and is eighth in assist to turnover ratio. Martin is second in the conference blocking 2.2 shots per game, while Harris is tied for the SSC lead getting 2.4 steals per game. Edwards gets 1.9 steals per game which is eighth in the SSC. Harris (third) and McCullough (seventh) are top 10 in the SSC in minutes played. The trio of Thompson (12.3 points per game,) Harris (11.8 per night) and Thompson (10) also average double figures.

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC.  The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9.
