Rollins Takes On Eckerd On The Road Saturday

 The Rollins College Tars (4-8 1-4 SSC) take on the Eckerd College Tritons (7-6 2-3 SSC) in Saint Pete at the McArthur Center. Tip time is set for 4 PM and you can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and worldwide on SunshineStateConference.TV 

Rollins is at the bottom of the conference putting up 73.4 points per game while they are fourth in the SSC scoring 76.1 points per game. The Tars shoot 44.5 percent from the field which is 10th in the SSC, on the defensive end the opponents shoot 43.4 percent which puts them sixth on the defensive end of the floor. The Tars are at the bottom of the conference shooting 29.1 percent from the 3-point line while defensively they are 10th in the conference letting the opposition shoot 34.4 percent from beyond the arc. Rollins shoots 73.6 percent from the free throw line which is seventh in the conference. The Tars are -0.8 on the boards being out rebounded 36.1-36.9. Last time out the Tars were a 77-75 winner at Barry to snap a six game losing streak. Matheus Silveira led Rollins with 17 points and 11 rebounds, Cody Potter knocked down five triples on his way to 16 points, Braxton Barnhizer had 13, and Dylan Wolle tallied 10. Silveira continues to stuff the stat sheet on the season. His 17 points per game are ninth in the conference, he leads the team in rebounds (6.2,) is fourth in field goal percentage (58.7 percent) and blocks 1.3 shots per game which is sixth in the SSC. Kyle Marion scores 14.5 points per game, leads the team in assists (4.2) which is fifth in the conference and is sixth in the conference getting two steals per night. Marion leads the team and is ninth in the conference playing 30.9 minutes per game. 

 Eckerd is near the bottom of the conference scoring 77.2 points per game while defensively they are second in the conference giving up 73.7 points per game. The Tritons are ninth in the conference shooting 44.9 percent from the field while defensively they are allowing 43 percent shooting which is fifth in the conference. The Tritons are fourth in the SSC shooting 38.6 percent from the 3-point line. At the other end the Tritons are seventh letting the opposition shoot 34.1 percent. Eckerd shoots 68.3 percent from the free throw line which is 10th in the SSC. On the glass Eckerd is eighth in the conference out rebounding the opposition by 0.9 (36.0-35.1) rebounds per night. George Kimble scores 23.4 points per game in the five contests that he has played, Isaiah Placide gets 17.9 a night which is fifth in the SSC, Carr Thiam scores 15.9 per game, and Kent Gerard scores 12.3 per contest. On the glass Timothy Thompson leads the team and is sixth in the conference grabbing 8.6 boards per night. Thiam is sixth in the conference shooting 46.2 percent from the 3-point line. Girard is seventh in free throw percentage shooing 85.7 percent, Dante Bouchard leads the team in assists at nearly two per night. Last time out Eckerd was a 83-82 loser at Lynn. Kimble scores 23 in the contest, Placide had 19, and Thiam netted 12.

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC. Tars Set To Battle Eckerd Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9. Silveira and McCullough traded dunks before a Silveira jumper trimmed the Panthers lead to one (14-13) five minutes into this one.
