Rollins Travels To Saint Leo For SSC Clash

 The Rollins College head to Saint Leo to take on the Saint Leo Lions tomorrow (2/6) from the Marion Bowman Activities Center. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM and you can catch all the action on SunshineStateConference.TV 

 Rollins (6-14 3-10 SSC) is coming off a 95-77 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic last time out. Sergey Grishaev led the way with 18 points, Cade Long had 17, Kyle Marion added 16, Matheus Silveria netted 14, and Dylan Wolle scored 10 in the loss. Rollins scores an SSC worst 74.7 points per game, shoots an SSC ninth best 44.8 percent from the field, an SSC worst 31 percent from 3-point land, they also shoot an SSC seventh best 73 percent from the free throw line. Defensively they give up an SSC eighth best 82.6 points per game, give up an SSC seventh best 44.4 percent shooting from the field, are eighth in the conference guarding the 3-point line (35.7 percent) on the glass they are last in the conference being out rebounded by 2.6 (36.7-39.3) boards per night. The Tars are 11th in turnover margin and seventh in assist to turnover ratio. They block 3.5 shots per game which is seventh in the SSC. They are also fourth in assists per game (17.1 per night.) Silveira leads the team and is 10th in scoring at 16.6 points per game. He leads the team in rebounding at 6.1 per game, shoots an SSC third best 59.2 percent from the field, is blocking an SSC sixth best 1.4 shots per game, Marion scores 13.3 points per game, and Grishaev adds 11.7 per contest. Marion (SSC sixth best 3.8 assists per game) and Long (SSC 10th best 3.7 assists per game) facilitate the offense. Potter is fifth in 3-point percentage. 

The Lions (9-12 4-9 SSC) are coming off a 82-73 loss at Barry last time out. Cantia Rahming paced Saint Leo with 20, Joseph Locandro added 19, Kanon Koster netted 12. As a team the Lions score an SSC seventh best 80.1 points per game, shoot an SSC fourth best 46.7 percent from the field, an SSC leading 40.2 percent from the 3-point line, and are shooting at a 75.7 percent clip from the free throw line which is fourth in the SSC. Defensively they give up an SSC 10th best 84.4 points per game, are last in field goal percentage against (45.9 percent,) and last in 3-point defense against (36.9 percent.) they are tied with Rollins at the bottom of the conference in rebounding at -2.6 (35.0-37.6) boards per contest. Koster is scoring 16.9 points per game which is sixth in the conference, Rahming gets 13.5 per game, Grant Disked scores 12.6 per night, Greyson Prizi gets 10.8 per game, and Logan Ryan scores 10.4 per game. Rahming leads the team and is second in the SSC grabbing 11.3 rebounds per night, Ryan is fourth in 3-point percentage (44.3 percent) and fifth in triples per game. Koster is fifth in free throw percentage (85 percent.)

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC. Tars Set To Battle Eckerd Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9. Silveira and McCullough traded dunks before a Silveira jumper trimmed the Panthers lead to one (14-13) five minutes into this one.
