Tars Have Five in Double Figures In Loss To PBA
The Rollins College Tars had five players score in double figures as they fell 95-77 to Palm Beach Atlantic and were swept in the season series. Sergey Grishaev had 18, Cade Long knocked down four triples on his way to 17 points, Kyle Marion added 16, Matheus Silveira added 14, while Dylan Wolle added 10. Rollins fell to 6-14 and 3-10 in the SSC. On the other side Jamal Walker had 26, Grant Ledford had 21, Will Lee added 16, Trent Mcnair tallied 12, and Marcus Montalvo notched 10. PBA improved to 14-7 and 8-5 in the SSC with the win.
The Tars got a Wolle 3-pointer to start the scoring in this one. A Grishaev triple made it 6-2 early in favor of the home team. The two teams went back and forth until back to back triples by the Sailfish put them up 14-10 at the 16:28 mark of the first half. The Sailfish lead grew to eight before a 4-0 run after a Grishaev 3-pointer made it 21-17 at the 13:42 mark of the first half. A 5-0 run by the Tars nearly midway through the first half would cut the Sailfish lead to five (29-24) after a Wolle jumper at the 10:41 mark. It was a 41-28 Rollins deficit with 6:53 to go in the half. A 5-0 run from the 2:31 mark to the 1:42 mark of the opening half as a Marion jumper made it 46-37 PBA. It was 50-39 in favor of the Sailfish at the break.
The Tars shot 51.6 percent from the field, 54.5 percent (5-11) from the 3-point line, and 25 percent (1-4) from the free throw line in the first half. PBA shot 63.6 percent from the field, 53.8 percent (7-13) from the 3-point line, and 1-1 from the free throw line.
The Sailfish came out firing and led by 19 (58-39.) Down 20 at the 14:39 mark Rollins went on a 6-0 run as a Marion hoop made it 68-54 at the 12:53 mark. Rollins would get the lead down to 11 (81-70) at the 6:05 mark. That is as close as they would get in this one.
On the game Rollins shot 51.6 percent from the field, 40.9 percent (9-22) from the 3-point line, and 44.4 percent (4-9) at the free throw line. They won the rebounding battle 29-28. The Tars had 18 assists and 14 turnovers in this one.
For the Sailfish they shot 60 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from the 3-point line (7-16) from the 3-point line, and 3-3 at the free throw line. They had 26 assists and nine turnovers in the contest.
