Tars Battle Eagles In Saturday Afternoon Tilt

 The Rollins College Tars take on the University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles in a Saturday afternoon tilt at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center with a 12 noon tip off. You can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and on the Sunshine State Conference Digital Network at SunshineStateConference.TV with Robert Segal (play by play) and Jim "Shooter" Ferro (color commentator) on the call. Both teams come into Saturday's contest with a 2-1 record. 

 Rollins is coming off a 83-63 win at home over Warner on Wednesday night. The Tars were led by 21 points and 12 rebounds from Sergey Grishaev, Emillis Butkus knocked down a trio of triples on his way to 14 points, beau Frericks added 12, and Jon Latimer contributed 10. Rollins averages 88.3 points per game while they allow 80.3 points per contest. They shoot 46.1 percent from the field, 45.7 percent from the 3-point line, and 85.2 percent at the free throw line. They have a 2.7 rebound edge (39.3-36.7) rebounds per contest. Rollins averages 21 assists, 10.7 turnovers, 5.3 steals, and 3.3 blocks per night. Frericks leads the team in scoring at 19.7 points per game and also lead the team assists with 17 on the year. The Lewis transfer has also been the teams most prolific shooter as he is shooting 56.3 percent from the floor. Butkus has been just as proficient from the 3-point line where he is shooting 57.1 percent from long range. Grishaev is scoring 17 a game and is leading the team in rebounding grabbing 8.3 boards per night. Latimer has been a spark off the bench in the young season as he is chipping in 15.7 points per game. Grisahev leads the team in blocks with five and Michael Kalina leads the team in steals with four. 

 The Eagles are coming off a tough 85-83 loss to Barry on Wednesday night. Jimel Cofer paced the Eagles with 26 to go along with nine rebounds, Chris Berry added 16, and Bennez Woodard tallied 10. UFL is averaging 89 points per game while they give up 79.3 per night. They shoot 49.3 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from the 3-point line, and 66.7 percent at the free throw line. They are out rebounding the opposition by 5.3 (39.0-33.7) rebounds per contest, are averaging 20 assists per night, turn the ball over 11.3 times per game, while they get 10 steals and block six shots per contest. Cofer leads the team pouring in 26.3 points per game and grabbing 8.7 rebounds per contest. Berry also scores in double figures at 17.3 points per night. Kofer and Vugar Kuliev lead the team with 10 assists each for the young season. Cofer also leads the team blocking 1.3 shots per night.
