Rollins Closes Home Stand With Beacon College Tuesday.

 The Rollins College Tars (4-3) will take on the Beacon College Blazers (1-6) at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center on Tuesday night. Tip time is slated for 7 PM with Rober Segal (play by play) and Jim "Shooter" Ferro (color) on the call. The Tars will close an eight game home stand to start the season. Last time out the Tars were a 83-55 winner over Puerto Rico Bayamon. John Latimer paced the Tars with 19 points and six assists, Sergey Grishaev notched 17, and Ian Hart tallied 15 in the win. Rollins shot 57.9 percent from the field and 28.6 (6-21) from the 3-point line in the contest. They also shot 68.8 percent (11-16) at the free throw line. Rollins averages 83.3 points per game on the year while they give up 80.4 points per night. They shot 47.6 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from the 3-point line, and 82.7 percent at the free throw line. The Tars make 9.4 3-pointer's per game and are +4.2 (37.6-33.4) rebounds per contest. They dish out 18.7 assists per contest while they are -3.9 in turnover margin. Rollins has a 1.2 assist to turnover ratio, gets 6.9 steals per game, and blocks 3.3 shots per contest. The Tars opposition shoots 43.4 percent from the field, 33.7 percent from the 3-point line, and they make 9.1 triples per contest. Emillis Butkus leads Rollins in scoring at 18 points per game. He shoots 52.8 percent from the field and 45.9 percent from the 3-point line. Beau Frericks scores 17 per night to go along with a 5.3 assists per game. He shoots 52.9 percent from the field and 88.1 percent from the free throw line. Grishaev puts up 16.7 per game and leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 per contest as well as swatting a little over one shot per game. Latimer rounds out the double digit scorers at 14.3 points per game while he gets a little over four assists per night.. Latimer shoots free throws at a 91.7 percent clip as well. Latimer also has 10 steals on the year which is second on the team to the 11 by Michael Kalina. 

 Beacon College just entered into a new era of athletics as they are now a member of the National Athletics League as of 9/5/2023. The lone Blazers win thus far this season was 80-73 over Abraham Baldwin.  They lost 95-77 to Fort Lauderdale, 77-75 to Millenia, 88-86 to Abraham Baldwin, 99-84 to Webber International, and 86-60 to New College of Florida, and 81-72 to the Edward Waters JV team. Ernesto Hichez leads the Blazers in both scoring (24.2 points per game) and rebounding (11.2) rebounds per contest. He is joined in double figures by Jared Carter (17.5 points per game,) Tony Wade (11.0 points per night) and Jordique Vincent (10.2 per contest.)  Hichez and Wade lead the team in assists at 3.2 per contest, Hichez also blocks 1.8 shots per game.

 The Rollins College Tars went down to Miami Shores and picked up their first conference win of the season as they knocked off Barry 86-79. With the win Rollins improves to 4-4 and 1-2 in the SSC. Tars Set To Battle Eckerd Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars return home to face the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday at Warden Arena. Marion, Silveira, Barnhizer combine for 51 in Road Loss To Florida Tech.

 Rollins College got a combined 51 points from the trio of Matheus Silveira, Kyle Marion, and Braxton Barnhizer but it was not nearly enough in a 96-73 road loss to Florida Tech at the Charles & Ruth Clemente Center. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 (0-1 SSC.) The Panthers improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season.   Barnhizer hit a pair of 3-pointer's in the games first 1:47 and the Tars led 6-1. Chase Thompson and Rashaan Edwards hit triples of their own to put the Panthers up 7-6. Barnhizer's third straight triple gave Rollins a 9-7 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. The lead was short-lived as a 3-pointer and a layup by Thompson put FIT ahead by a score of 12-9. Silveira and McCullough traded dunks before a Silveira jumper trimmed the Panthers lead to one (14-13) five minutes into this one.
