Rollins Closes Home Stand With Beacon College Tuesday.
The Rollins College Tars (4-3) will take on the Beacon College Blazers (1-6) at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center on Tuesday night. Tip time is slated for 7 PM with Rober Segal (play by play) and Jim "Shooter" Ferro (color) on the call. The Tars will close an eight game home stand to start the season. Last time out the Tars were a 83-55 winner over Puerto Rico Bayamon. John Latimer paced the Tars with 19 points and six assists, Sergey Grishaev notched 17, and Ian Hart tallied 15 in the win. Rollins shot 57.9 percent from the field and 28.6 (6-21) from the 3-point line in the contest. They also shot 68.8 percent (11-16) at the free throw line. Rollins averages 83.3 points per game on the year while they give up 80.4 points per night. They shot 47.6 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from the 3-point line, and 82.7 percent at the free throw line. Beacon College just entered into a new era of athletics as they are now a member of the National Athletics League as of 9/5/2023. The lone Blazers win thus far this season was 80-73 over Abraham Baldwin. They lost 95-77 to Fort Lauderdale, 77-75 to Millenia, 88-86 to Abraham Baldwin, 99-84 to Webber International, and 86-60 to New College of Florida, and 81-72 to the Edward Waters JV team. Ernesto Hichez leads the Blazers in both scoring (24.2 points per game) and rebounding (11.2) rebounds per contest. He is joined in double figures by Jared Carter (17.5 points per game,) Tony Wade (11.0 points per night) and Jordique Vincent (10.2 per contest.) Hichez and Wade lead the team in assists at 3.2 per contest, Hichez also blocks 1.8 shots per game.
