Rollins Heads To San Juan To Take On Rio-Piedras And Bayamon This Weekend
The Rollins College Tars head to San Juan, Puerto Rico this weekend. Tonight (Friday) the Tars will battle Puerto Rico Rio Piedras at 8 PM. Rollins (5-5 0-3 SSC) is coming off a 85-79 loss to Flagler last time out. Sergey Grishaev nearly posted a double-double as he scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the loss. Beau Frericks added 17 points to go with a team high five assists, Emillis Butkus added 15, and John Latimer tallied 14. Rollins shot 45.3 percent from the field and a frigid 19 percent (4-21) from the 3-point line in the loss. They shot a solid 85 percent (17-20) from the free throw line. Rollins took on Puerto Rico Bayamon earlier in the season and came up with a 83-55 win. Bryant Rodriguez led the way with 12, Jeremy Matos had 11, and Victor Carillo 10 for Bayamon in that game. For the Tars John Latimer had 19, Sergey Grishaev had 17, and Ian Hart 15 in the meeting with UPRB.
The last time the Tars took on Rio Piedras was in the 2016 season as the Tars came away with a 112-104 win in overtime. Rollins is 7-1 all time against Rio Piedras including a current five game win streak. Rollins is 12-1 all time against Bayamon including a nine game win streak.
