65 Point Second Half By Lynn Sinks Tars Saturday

 The Rollins College Tars held the Lynn Fighting Knights to 32 points in the first half on Saturday and held a 37-32 lead at the intermission at Warden Arena. Things completely flipped in the second half as Lynn got anything they wanted on the offensive end to score 65 second half points. Lynn improved to 10-4 and 5-3 in the SSC with the win. Rollins falls to 9-7 and 2-5 in the SSC following the defeat. 

 Rollins jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first 2:10 of the contest as Emillis Butkus scored four of those points while Sergey Grishaev had the other hoop. Lynn fought back and tied the game at 10 on a Osei Price layup with 14:28 until halftime. The game went back and forth for a few minutes until Rollins went on another run. Down 15-14 with 12:45 until halftime it was Ian Hart with a tip in, layups by Butkus and William Jobe followed by a triple by Dylan Wolle as well as a 3-pointer by Butkus that capped a 12-0 tun to make it 26-15 Rollins with 9:45 in the opening half. The next six points went to the Fighting Knights to trim the lead to five. John Latimer made a basket for the Tars but Price answered with a three of his own. The Tars went on another six point run to stretch the lead back to 10 (34-24) after a Grishaev layup with 6:02 in the half. Rollins would only score three points in the final six minutes of the half and Lynn would get to within five (37-32) after Noah Kattan. In the opening half Rollins shot 38.4 percent from the field, 22.2 percent (2-9) from the 3-point line, and 71.4 percent (5-7) from the free throw line. Lynn shot 32.3 percent in the first 20 minutes, 28.6 percent from the 3-point line (6-21) and went a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line in the half. 

 Carson Smith hit a triple to start the second half and that would be a sign of things to come for the Fighting Knights. Frericks answered with a Rollins trey but after Leo Beath made a jumper for Lynn at the 17:43 mark they had a 42-41 lead. Frericks briefly gave Rollins the lead but Beath hit another triple to put Lynn on top. Grishaev  scored to knot the game at 45. Rollins would regain the lead 50-48 on a Latimer layup with 15:48 to go. A triple by Jordan Wilkins would give the Fighting Knights a lead that would not relinquish. Hart made a jumper for Rollins to make it 53-52 Lynn. Lynn would then would then score the next five points before Rollins got the next four. Butkus hit a three for the Tars to make it a 60-57 deficit at the 12:01 mark. Two free throws by Frericks at the 9:57 mark trimmed the Rollins deficit to four (66-62.) Lynn scored the next seven points as a triple in transition by Kattan made it 73-62 in favor of the visitors at the 8:22 mark. Rollins would get it back to nine again a couple more times but they could not get enough stops to get any closer. This would ultimately lead to a resounding road win for Lynn. 

 Rollins was paced by 22 points, four rebounds, three steals, and three blocks by Grishaev. Frericks added 16 while both Butkus and Latimer notched 15. Latimer led the team in assists with six on the night. Rollins shot 45 percent from the field in the game, 33.3 percent (7-21) from the 3-point line, and 70 percent (14-20) from the free throw line. They had 20 assists and six turnovers in the contest. For the Fighting Knights they had vie players score double figures. Beath led the way with 27, Smith had 13, Proce and Wilkins added 12, and Kattan tallied 11. Lynn shot 50 percent from the field (65.7 percent in the second half,) 37.8 percent from the 3-point line (14-37) including 8-16 in the second stanza, and 85 percent (17-20) from the free throw line. Lynn won the rebounding battle 41-37. They had 19 assists and 10 turnovers in the contest. 

Rollins will be back in action Wednesday when they take on Eckerd in St.Pete. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM.
