Rollins Dismantled by #20 Florida Southern Despite 30 and 10 from Grishaev

 The Rollins College and Florida Southern Moccassins did battle on Wednesday night from the Streamline Court Inside the George Jenkins Field House. Despite 30 points and 10 rebounds from Sergey Grishaev the Tars were dismantled 98-82 by the Mocs. With the loss Rollins falls to 11-8 and 4-6 in the SSC. #20 FSC improves to 16-4 and 7-3 in the SSC following the win. 

 Alex Steen opened the scoring with a dunk for the Mocs but Grishaev knocked down a three to open the scoring for the Tars. The Mocs would open up a 12 point lead as they led 17-5 after a Joe Moon triple with 16:38 in the opening half. Rollins would score the next five points and it would be a 17-10 game after a Beau Frericks triple less than a minute later. The lead went back to double digits on a dunk by Steen. A Butkus three briefly got the Tars within single digits again. The two teams traded runs as Mateus Malovec trimmed the Mocs lead to 10 (38-28) at the 4:29 mark of the opening half. The Mocs would ultimately take a 51-36 lead into the locker room. Rollins shot 43.8 percent in the opening half, 27.3 percent (3-11) from the 3-point line and 83.3 percent (5-6) at the free throw line in the opening stanza. For the the Mocs they shot 58.3 percent in the first half, 41.7 percent (5-12) from the 3-point line, and 80 percent (4-5) at the free throw line in the opening 20 minutes. 

 The lead grew to 20 (66-46) as Steen hit a pair of free throws at the 15:25 mark. Grishaev would then go on a personal 5-0 run to get the visitors to within 15 with 14:47 remaining. The Tars would get to within 15 once more but a 15-1 run would put this one away for the home team. As a team the Mocs were paced by Steen with 21 points and four blocks. Peyton Gerald had 15 to go along with nine rebounds, Dominick Denny had 14, and seven assists while Jadin Booth netted 13. The Mocs shot 50.6 percent from the field, 37.9 percent (11-29) from the 3-point line, and 64.3 percent (9-14) from the free throw line. They also won the rebounding battle 42-36. They had 25 assists and just five turnovers in the contest. Rollins was led by 30 points and 10 rebounds from Grishaev, Frericks notched 19 points, six assists, and five rebounds while Butkus chipped in 19 of his own. Rollins shot 50 percent from the field, 29 percent (7-24) from the 3-point line, and 69.2 percent (9-13) from the free throw line. The Tars had 16 assists and 13 turnovers in the loss. 

Rollins will be back in action Saturday when they return to Winter Park to take on Barry. Tip time is slated for 4 PM.
