Rollins Set To Renew Rivalry With Mocs
The Rollins College Tars (11-7 4-5 SSC) are set to renew the longest standing rival that they have in the Sunshine State Conference as they head to Lakeland to take on the Florida Southern College Moccassins (15-4 6-3 SSC) at the Jenkins FieldHouse. The Tars are coming off a thrilling 87-81 comeback win over Embry-Riddle in overtime on Saturday. The Tars held the Eagles without a field goal for the final 7:11 of regulation and then completed the comeback in the overtime. Beau Frericks paced the Tars with 26 points, John Latimer notched 20, and Emillis Butkus tallied 19 in the win. Rollins shot 47.4 percent from the field and 80 percent (28-35) from the free throw line in the contest. The Tars escaped with the win despite shooting just 25 percent (5-20) from the 3-point line in the game. The Tars are sixth in the SSC putting up 84.9 points per game while on the defensive end they are fifth giving up 78.6 points per contest. Jadin Booth and Alex Steen each had 22 to lead FSC, Dominick Denny added 21, and Peyton Gerald notched 15 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. The Mocs shot 43.4 percent from the field, 23.8 percent (5-21) from the 3-point line, and 79.3 percent (23-29) at the free throw line. The high powered Mocs offense is second in the SSC putting up 92.8 points per game while they give up 83.5 per night which is eighth in the SSC. FSC shoots 46.2 percent from the field which is fifth in the conference, 37 percent from the 3-point line which is third in the SSC, and lead the conference shooting at a 80.5 percent clip from the free throw line.
