Tars Set To Battle Eagles In Winter Park

 The Rollins College Tars (10-7 3-5 SSC) fresh off a 78-67 win over Eckerd on Wednesday will take on the Embry-Riddle Eagles (11-5 5-3 SSC) at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Robert Segal and Jim "Shooter" Ferro will once again be on the call on 91.5 FM WPRK and on SunshineStateConference.TV as tipoff is slated for 4 PM tomorrow (Saturday 1/18.) 

 Rollins was paced on Wednesday by Emillis Butkus who was a perfect 11-11 from the field and 3-3 from the 3-point line on his way to 27 points in the 11 point win, Beau Frericks added 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Sergey Grishaev tallied 14 to go with six rebounds. Rollins shot 58.5 percent from the field, 35.3 percent (6-17) from the 3-point line, and 52.6 percent (10-19) from the free throw line in the win. Rollins scores an SSC sixth best 84.8 points per game while they give up an SSC fifth best 78.5 points per night. The Tars are shooting 49.4 percent from the field which is second best in the conference while they continue to lead the conference in 3-point percentage (38.5 percent.) The Tars shoot at a 75.9 percent clip from the free throw line which is third in the conference, they are sixth in the SSC in turnover margin (0.29) and fifth in assist to turnover ratio (1.52.) Rollins is fifth in the conference dishing out 19.9 assists per contest. On the defensive end they are fifth in field goal percentage against (43.6 percent,) 10th in the SSC in guarding the 3-point line (36.2 percent,) and seventh in rebounding margin at +2.3 (36.1-33.8.) They get an SSC seventh best 7.7 steals per game and block 3.5 shots per game which is also seventh in the conference. Butkus leads the team and is sixth in the SSC scoring 18.4 points per game. The native of Lithuania shoots 58 percent from the field which is second in the SSC, 43.8 percent from the 3-point line which is also second in the SSC, and hits 2.4 treys per contest which is eighth in the league. Grishaev scores 16.7 points per game and leads the team in rebounding at 5.9 boards per night. Grishaev is 10th in the SSC shooting 50.5 percent from the field while he blocks 1.6 shots per game which is fifth in the SSC. Frericks scores 16.4 points per game, shoots an SSC seventh best 42 percent from the 3-point line, and shoots at an SSC fifth best 88.3 percent clip at the free throw line.. The Lewis transfer dishes out an SSC eighth best 4.2 assists per game, is eighth in assist to turnover ratio (2.0,) and sixth in the SSC in minutes played (32.3.)  ERAU is coming off a 88-73 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday. Michael McCalister led the Eagles with 25 points and 12 rebounds, Dru Nickson had 19, and Jerry Bracey added 12. ERAU shot 39.4 percent from the field, 27.3 percent (6-22) from the 3-point line, and 61.1 percent (11-18) at the free throw line. ERAU scores 89.2 points per game which is fourth in the SSC while they give up a league worst 86.3 points per night. They shoot an SSC third best 48.3 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from three (ninth in the SSC) and 75.5 percent at the free throw line (fourth in the SSC.) The Eagles are eighth in turnover margin (-0.88) and sixth in assist to turnover ratio (1.52.) They dish out an SSC seventh best 18.3 assists per game, as well. McCalister scores 13.3 per game and is sixth in the SSC pulling down 7.1 rebounds per game. Jerry Bracey (12.2 points per game,) Hussein Yassin  (11.5 per night) and Jared Berry (10.7 per night) also average double figures. Bracey is fifth in the SSC in field goal percentage at 55.9 percent. Yassin is fourth in blocked shots in the league at 1.8 per contest.
