Rollins Travels To #2 Nova Southeastern In Regular Season Finale

 The Rollins College Tars (16-12 9-10 SSC) travel to take on the #2 Nova Southeastern University Sharks (26-1 18-1 SSC) at Rick Case Arena inside the Don Taft University Center. Tip time is slated for 4 PM and you can catch all the action on SunshineStateConference.TV with Robert Segal and Jim "Shooter' Ferro on the call. The Sharks have clinched the regular season SSC Champion and the #1 seed in the SSC tournament that begins next week. Rollins currently sits in seventh place and will most likely face either #2 seed Florida Southern or #3 seed Lynn (The Mocs would need to lose and Lynn to win tomorrow) for the seeds to flip flop. 

 Rollins has lost two straight and is coming off a 93-79 loss to Florida Southern. Beau Frericks (22 points) and Sergey Grishaev (18) each scored double figures in what would be there last games at Warden Arena. Junior Emillis Butkus also scored in double figures with 15. Rollins shot 46.9 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from the 3-point line, and 85.7 percent from the free throw line (12-14) in the defeat. In the first meeting back in November NSU was #1 in the country and the Tars fell 109-94. Butkus paced the Tars in that one with 23 points, Grishaev scored 22, Frericks added 15, Ian Hart tallied 14, and John Latimer netted 11. In that game Rollins shot 54.1 percent from the field, 41.7 percent (10-24) from the 3-point line, and 90 percent (18-20) from the free throw line. Rollins scores 83.6 points per game which is sixth in the conference, while they give up 80 points per night which is fourth in the SSC. Rollins shoots 48.8 percent from the field (second SSC,) 37.9 percent from the 3-point line (leads the SSC) and knock down 8.8 triples per night which is third in the conference. Rollins is also third in the SSC in free throw percentage (75.4 percent.) Rollins is seventh on the glass as they get 0.9 (36.9-36.0) more rebounds than the opposition. The Tars are ninth in turnover margin (-1.33) and fourth in assist to turnover ratio (1.42.) They dish out 16.4 assists per game which is fifth in the conference as well. Rollins is third in field goal percentage against (43.3 percent,) sixth at guarding the 3-point line (34.1 percent) while they block 3.14 shots per game which is seventh in the SSC. Rollins steals the ball an SSC ninth best 6.14 times per game on average as well. Butkus is seventh in the conference putting up 18.2 points per game while Frericks scores 16.8 per night which is 10th in the SSC. Also scoring in double figures are Grishaev (15.4 per night) and  Latimer (14.8 per contest.) Grishaev pulls down 7.1 rebounds per game which is ninth in the conference while Butkus is sixth in the SSC in field goal percentage (53.3 percent.) Frericks is eighth in shooting, as he shoots at a 50.5 percent clip on the season. Frericks is third in the SSC in 3-point percentage (42.2) as well. Latimer knocks down 87.1 percent of his free throws which is second in the conference while Frericks shoots an SSC fifth best 86 percent from the free throw line. Frericks leads the team and is eighth in the SSC dishing out 3.8 assists per game while he is also ninth in assist to turnover ratio (1.8.) Grishaev blocks 1.4 shots per game which is sixth in the conference Latimer leads the team in steals (1.5 per game) and Frericks is fifth in the conference in minutes played per game (33.3.) 

The Sharks have won 13 straight and are coming off a 103-88 win over Embry-Riddle on Wednesday. MJ Iraldi erupted for 42 points in that victory,  Ross Reeves added 21, Rhykar Cisarik scored 19, and Dallas Graziani netted 10. NSU shot a sizzling 60.6 percent from the field, knocked down 50 percent (8-16) of their 3-point attempts, and shot 83.3 percent (15-18) at the free throw line. In the win over Rollins in November Reeves had 29, Iraldi contributed 23, Tyler Eberhart scored 16, Graziani added 14 to go with 10 assists, and Cisarik notched 12. In that game the Sharks shot 53.1 percent from the field, 36 percent (9-25) from the 3-point line, and 82.1 percent (32-39) from the free throw line. NSU scores 106.1 points per game which leads the country by more than five points per night. The Sharks shoot 52.6 percent from the field which is second in the country, they shoot the three at 37.5 percent which is second to Rollins in the SSC, they shoot free throws at 76.6 percent which is second to Florida Southern in the SSC. On the glass Nova is second in the SSC as they get 8.5 (43.2-34.7) more rebounds than the opposition. NSU is second in the country in turnover margin to West Liberty (8.9 for the Hilltoppers) and 8.7 for the Sharks. The Sharks also lead the country in assist to turnover ratio (2.29.) NSU blocks 3.4 shots per game which is tied for fifth in the SSC but they dish out 24.6 assists per game which leads the country. NSU is also fourth in the country in fast break points (21.48 per game) NSU is fifth in field goal percentage against (44.2 percent) but they are at the bottom of the conference in opponent 3-point percentage (36.6 percent.) Iraldi leads the Sharks and the SSC scoring 24.4 points per game which is tied for fifth in the country. Cisarik gets 18.4 per night which is sixth in the SSC, Reeves (14.1,) Graziani (12.6,) and Eberhart (12.0 points per night) also score in double figures. Cisarik is fourth in the SSC pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game, while Cisarik (60.2 percent) and Iraldi (55.8 percent) are first and fourth respectively in the conference in that category. Iraldi shoots 42.3 percent from the 3-point line which is second in the SSC while Cisarik shoots an SSC ninth best 80.9 percent from the free throw line. Graziani leads the country in both assists per game (9.5) and assist to turnover ratio (6.42.) Graziani also steals the ball 2.8 times per game which leads the conference as well. Graziani is also fourth in the conference in minutes played (35.4) on the season.
