Seeking Revenge

 The Rollins College Tars (14-8 7-6 SSC) seek revenge on the University of Tampa Spartans (14-8 6-8 SSC) after a 99-92 loss just over a month ago at the Martinez Sports Complex. This time the Spartans will come to Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center.  Last time out Rollins grinded out a 70-68 win over Florida Tech that was the third straight for Rollins and they have now win six of the past eight games. John Latimer and Emillis Butkus each scored 17 while Sergey Grishaev notched 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Tars secured the win despite getting just six points from Beau Frericks, while the team shot just 38 percent from the field, 27.8 percent (5-18) from the 3-point line and 63 percent (17-27) at the free throw line. Rollins scores an SSC sixth best 83.8 points per game while they give up an SSC fifth best 78.6 points per night. Rollins shoots an SSC second best 48.7 percent from the field and a conference leading 37.5 percent from the 3-point line. The Tars make an SSC third best 8.7 triples per contest, shoot free throws at an SSC third best 75.7 percent clip, while they are sixth in the league in rebounding with a 36.8-34.5 rebound advantage. Rollins is seventh in turnover margin (-0.66) and fourth in assist to turnover ratio (1.50.) Rollins is 10th at guarding the 3-point line as the opposition shoots 35.1 percent from long range, they block 3.18 shots per game which is seventh in the conference, get 6.82 steals per contest which is eighth and dish out 17.41 assists per night which sits fifth in the conference. Butkus is seventh in the league in scoring at 18.4 points per game. The native of Lithuania shoots 53.3 percent from the floor which is also seventh, and 36.6 percent from the 3-point line which is 12th in the league. Frericks scores 16.8 per game which is ninth in the conference. The native of Cary,Illinois is 10th in field goal percentage (49.6 percent,) second in 3-point percentage (42 percent) and second in free throw percentage (87.3 percent) in the conference. Frericks 3.8 assists per game lead the team and are eighth in the conference as well as his 33 minutes played per night which sits fifth in the SSC. He is also ninth in the conference in assist to turnover ratio. Grishaev scores 16.1 per game which is 12th in the league, leads the team and is 10th in the SSC grabbing 6.8 rebounds per contest. The native of Russia blocks 1.4 shots per game which is sixth in the SSC. Latimer scores 14.6 per game to round out the double digit scorers. The Apopka product dishes out 3.6 assists per game which is ninth in the SSC, while he steals the ball 1.7 times per game which is 11th in the conference. He shoots free throws at an SSC fifth best 85.9 percent clip. In the first meeting with Tampa Butkus had 26, Frericks scored 21, Grishaev netted 16, and Latimer chipped in 13. 

 Tampa has lost three straight and the Spartans are coming off a 100-66 loss to #3 Nova Southeastern on Wednesday. Tyson Leitao and Amarion Nimmers scored 12 to lead UT and were the only players in double figures against NSU. UT is third in the conference putting up 91.4 points per game while they give up 84.7 per night which is ninth in the league. The Spartans shoot 43.3 percent from the field which is eighth in the conference, shoot 36.2 percent from three which is third in the conference, but are the worst free throw shooting team in the conference shooting at a 66 percent clip. UT has been solid on the boards as they are fourth in the conference with a 44.2-38.3 advantage. They are fourth in turnover margin (2.77) and fifth in assist to turnover ratio (1.43.) The Spartans are second in the SSC dishing out nearly 20 (19.95) assists per game. They are seventh at guarding the 3-point line (34 percent) and block 2.41 shots per game which is 10th in the league. Another area they excel is stealing the ball. UT is getting an SSC second best 10.36 steals per night. Bryan Williams leads the team putting up 17.5 points per game (only 13 games played.) Nimmers is 10th in the SSC scoring 16.5 per night, Leitao gets 14.8 per contest, Ryan Blount (12.2 per game,) Trey Lane (11.9 per night) and Kaden Froebe 10.5 per contest. Leitao leads the conference pulling down 11.8 rebounds per contest while shooting an SSC ninth best 49.8 percent from the field. Blount shoots an SSC sixth best 39.1 percent from three while making 2.4 triples per game which is eighth in the league. Lane is 10th with 2.2 made threes per game. Lane leads the Spartans and is fourth in the SSC dishing out five assists per game. Lane also gets 2.3 steals per night which leads the team and is second in the conference. In the win over the Tars in January Nimmers had 32, Lane added 22 and 10 rebounds, Blount chipped in 12, while Laiteao and Froebe scored 11 each.
