The Rollins College Tars (15-8 8-6 SSC) travel to the Marion Bowman Activities Center to take on the Saint Leo Lions (9-14 4-11 SSC) as they seek a season sweep of the Lions after a 72-70 win back on 1/8 in Winter Park. Rollins has won four straight and is coming off a 95-78 thrashing of Tampa on Saturday. John Latimer paced the Tars with 25, Emillis Butkus added 15, Sergey Grishaev had a second straight game with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Beau Frericks and Michael Niemann each added 12. Rollins shot 53.6 percent from the field and 50 percent (13-26) from the 3-point line in the resounding win. They added shooting 81.5 percent (22-27) from the free throw line. They held the Spartans to 30.8 percent shooting from the field, 22.6 percent (7-31) from the 3-point line, and 67.6 percent (23-34) at the free throw line. The Tars score 84.3 points per game which is sixth in the SSC while on defense they are holding opponents to an SSC fifth best 78.6 points per night. Rollins shoots an SSC second best 48.9 percent from the field and lead the conference shooting at a 38.1 percent clip from the 3-point line. The Tars also shoot an SSC second best 76.1 percent from the free throw line. Rollins is sixth in the conference in rebounding as they have a 2.2 rebound advantage (37.1-34.9) on the season. They are eighth in turnover margin (-0.96) and fourth in assist to turnover ratio (1.46.) Rollins dishes out 17.26 assists per game which is fifth in the SSC. Grishaev leads the team and is tied for ninth in the SSC grabbing seven boards per night to go with his 16 points per contest. The Russian native blocks 1.4 shots per game which is sixth in the SSC. Latimer scores 15.2 per night, shoots an SSC second best 87 percent at the free throw line, and dishes out an SSC ninth best 3.6 assists per game. Latimer also leads the team in steals with 1.7 per contest which is tied for 10th in the conference. In the first meeting between the two teams Rollins won as Latimer went end to end to score in the waning seconds. Latimer paced the Tars with 23, Grishaev had 17, and Butkus had 12. Including that win, the Tars have a 7-2 record since that time.
The Lions are coming off a 79-65 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday. Brady Corso led Saint Leo with 15, Amar Hot had 13, while Tae Wilson notched 11 points and 10 rebounds in the defeat. Saint Leo shot 41.1 percent from the floor and 36 percent (9-25) from the 3-point line in the loss. They shot at a 55.6 percent clip (10-18) from the free throw line as well. The Lions score an SSC ninth best 76.7 points per game while they give up an SSC fourth best 77.9 points per contest. They shoot 44.6 percent from the field which is seventh in the league and 32 percent from the 3-point line which is 10th in the conference. They shoot at a 68.9 percent clip from the free throw line which is ninth in the SSC. On the glass the Lions are 10th being out rebounded by 4.1 (35.6-39.7) boards per night. They are seventh in turnover margin (-0.87) and eighth in assist to turnover ratio (1.06.) The opposition shoots 44.4 percent from the field against them (sixth SSC) and they are second at guarding the 3-point line (32 percent.) The Lions are the second best shot blocking team in the conference (5.04 per game,) they dish out 13.13 assists per night (ninth SSC) and get 7.26 steals per game (seventh SSC.) Wilson leads the Lions in scoring at 16.2 points per game, he is joined in double figures by Owen Pawilikowski (12.9 points per night in seven games played,) Jaylen McElroy (11.9 per game,) Corso (10.6 per contest) and Hot (10.3 per game.) Wilson leads the team pulling down an SSC eighth best 7.2 rebounds per game, he also leads the team in blocked shots along with Wilson at an SSC 10th best 1.2 per night. Hot leads the team in assists at 3.2 per contest. McElroy is 10th in steals at 1.7 per game. In the first meeting with the Tars a little over a month ago Corso had 22, McElroy added 13, Wilson notched 12 to go with 10 rebounds, and Hot tallied 10. The Lions shot 42.2 percent from the field, 39.1 percent (9-23) from the 3-point line, and 50 percent (7-14) from the free throw line.
