Hot Shooting Powers Tars To Convincing Win Over Southern.

 What a difference a holiday break can make. The Rollins Tars who scored just 40 points in 40 minutes last time they played (against Montana State Billings in Vegas) closed the year with a convincing 96-77 win at Jenkins Field House on Friday. With the win Rollins improved to 7-6 (2-3 SSC) while the Mocs lost their third straight and fell to 5-8 (2-3 SSC.)   After trailing 5-4 early the Tars went on a 12-0 surge to go up by 11 (16-5) after a Kyle Marion 3-pointer with 12:54 in the opening half. The Rollins lead would grow to 16 (25-9) after Hutton Yenor layup with 11:04 in the first stanza. FSC would then go on a 12-0 run of their own to cut the lead to four (25-21) after a DeAndre Campbell 3-pointer with 7:45 in the opening half. The Tars would again stretch the lead to double digits (34-24) after a Yenor jumper with 5:39 in the half. Rollins Heads To Lakeland As They Renew Rivalry With Southern To End 2021.

 The Rollins College Tars and Florida Southern Moccasins will renew the oldest rivalry in the Sunshine State Conference when they battle at Jenkins Field House at 4 PM on New Years Eve. Tip time is set for 4 PM Friday.  Rollins (6-6 1-3 SSC) is coming off a pair of losses in the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas prior to the holiday break losing to top ranked Lubbock Christian and Montana State Billings. The last win for the Tars came against #12 Barry in the last Sunshine State Conference game they played. The Tars average 78.8 points per game, while they give up 79.8 points per contest. The Tars shoot 48 percent from the field and 37 percent from the 3-point line on the season. They shoot 77 percent as a team from the free throw line. Cold Shooting Rollins Falls For Second Straight Day.

 The Rollins Tars played for the second straight day in the Holiday Hoops Classic at the South Point Hotel and Casino. Today the Tars fell to Montana State Billings 59-40. With the loss Rollins drops to 6-6 on the year, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-7 with the win.    The Yellow Jackets had a five point lead early on before a Dayton Gumm 3-pointer made it a 12-10 Rollins deficit with just under 16 minutes to go in the opening half. After a 17-12 Yellow Jackets lead the Tars got a 3-pointer from Cody Potter. Billings would score the next seven points and stretch the lead to nine (24-15.) The two teams continued to struggle from the field as it was 29-22 Yellow Jackets at the half.   Rollins shot 33 percent from the field and 29 percent (4-14) from the 3-point line in the contest. #1 Lubbock Christian Outlasts Tars.

 The Rollins Tars and Lubbock Christian Chaps did battle in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday Night as the Chaps came away with a 77-60 win. With the win the Chaps improved to 11-0 on the year while the Tars fell to 6-5 in defeat.   Rollins got off to a good start as Brooks Cluxton went five for five early as Rollins took a 19-15 lead 12 minutes in. The Chaps took the first lead they had in the game at the 7:23 mark 23-22. The lead was three before a Dayton Hummer layup cut it to one (27-26) before a 8-0 run closed the half for the Chaps to go up 35-26. The Tars shot 44 percent in the opening half but went just 2 of 11 from the 3-point line. They cashed in on both free throw attempts on the night. The Chaps shot 52 percent from the field and went just 3 of 14 from the 3-point line. Rollins Heads To Vegas For Holiday Hoops Classic.

 The Rollins Tars (6-4 1-3 SSC) head to Las Vegas for the Holiday Hoops Classic on Friday and Saturday. Rollins will battle #1 Lubbock Christian (10-0) Friday at 7 PM Eastern time before battling Montana State Billings (4-6) Saturday at 3 PM.  The Tars are coming off a huge 98-92 win over then #12 Barry on Saturday at Warden Arena. Hutton Yenor led four Rollins players in double figures with 25, while Brooks Cluxton scored 20, Sergey Grishaev added 18, and Kyle Marion netted 17. The Tars shot 55 percent from the floor, 44 percent (12-27) from the 3-point line, and 71 percent (12-17) at the free throw line. Rollins is averaging 84.6 points per game on the season, while they allow 82.1 points per contest. They are being out rebounded by 1.7 per contest (36.2-37.9.) 57 Point Second Half Lifts Tars To Upset Of #12 Barry!

 The Rollins Tars used a 14-0 run to start the second half after trailing 44-41 to take a 55-44 lead that they would never relinquish in a 98-92 upset victory over the 12th ranked Barry Buccaneers at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. With the win Rollins improved to 6-4 and 1-3 in the SSC. Barry fell to 7-1 and 2-1 in the SSC after the defeat.   The two teams would go back and forth early in this one. A Hutton Yenor 3-pointer for the Tars tied the game at 24 with 8:45 in the first stanza. The Tars would trail for the remainder of the half and it would be 44-41 Barry at the intermission.   The Tars would come out as a team on a mission in the second half as they would take what was a three point deficit and turn it into a 11 point lead (55-44.)  The Rollins College Tars will be at home Saturday when they take on the #12 ranked Barry Buccaneers inside Warden Arena. That may be the only thing in the Tars favor in this one. Tars Fall Against Tech.

 The Rollins College Tars ran into a buzz saw Saturday as they fell 92-77 to the Florida Tech Panthers at Warden Arena. With the loss the Tars fall to 5-4 and 0-3 in the SSC, while the Panthers improve to 8-1 and 3-0 in the SSC with a eighth consecutive win.  Hutton Yenor led the way for the Tars with 25 points, Dayton Gumm added 17, while Brooks Cluxton tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rollins shot 43 percent from the field, 31 percent (11-36) from the 3-point line, and 62 percent (8-13) from the free throw line. They had 14 assists and 12 turnovers in the contest.   Sean Houpt led the Panthers with 32, Mekhii Noble added 20, Sesan Russell had 17, and Nial Harris netted 11. Eagles Too Much For Tars.

 The Rollins Tars got 53 points combined from Kyle Marion and Hutton Yenor but it was not enough in a 90-78 loss to #18 Embry-Riddle at Warden Arena on Wednesday night. With the win ERAU improves to 8-1 on the year, while the Tars fall to 5-3 after the defeat.  Marion went 10-13 from the field, and six of eight from the 3-point line on his way to 32 points in 37 minutes. Yenor added 21 to go along with nine rebounds and five assists. Cade Long added nine. The Tars shot 48 percent as a team and 42 percent (11-26) from the 3-point line.  The Rollins Tars (5-2 0-1 SSC) battle the Eagles of Embry-Riddle today at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Tip time is set for 7:30 PM.
