Rollins Falls In Tight Game On The Road.

 The Rollins College Tars dropped a tight contest 93-89 to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at Rubin Arena on Wednesday night. With the loss Rollins drops to 3-3 and 0-2 in the SSC. PBA improves to 3-1 (1-1 SSC) with the victory.   Rollins was led by a trio of players in double figures. Kyle Marion and Hutton Yenor paced the Tars with 21 points each, while John Latimer was a perfect 4-4 from the 3-point line en route to a career high 16 points.   Bryce Laskey poured in a game high 31 points to lead the Sailfish as he knocked down seven triples, Will Lee added 17, Jalen Cooper scored 16 to go along with nine rebounds, and Marcus Montalvo scored 11 and dished out a team leading 15 assists.   Rollins scored the games first eight points and had a 12-8 lead five minutes in. The Sailfish would take a 17-16 lead but Latimer would knock down a 3-pointer seconds later to give Rollins a 21-20 lead. It would be a 48-44 lead for the Tars at the intermission. ...

Tars Travel To Palm Beach Atlantic.

 The Rollins College Tars (3-2 0-1 SSC) travel to West Palm to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (2-1 0-1 SSC)on Wednesday. Tip time is slated for 7:30 PM at Rubin Arena. Matheus Silviera had 13, Brookes Kahlert knocked down four 3-pointer's on his way to a season high 12, Kyle Marion tallied 11, and John Latimer rounded out the double figure scorers with 10. The Tars are scoring an SSC sixth best 80.4 points per game while defensively they allow an SSC ninth best 77 points per contest. Rollins Pummels Southeastern In Exhibition.

 The Rollins College Tars (3-2) were a 94-59 winner as they pummelled Southeastern University at Warden Arena. Rollins was led by five players in double figures in the contest.   Rollins was paced by 16 points from Hutton Yenor, Matheus Silviera added 13, Brooks Kahlert knocked down four triples on his way to 12. Kyle Marion netted 11 and John Latimer tallied 10 to round out the double digit scorers.    Southeastern was led by 11 points from Reggie Mesidor and Aaron Jones scored eight. The game was tied at seven in the early going. The Tars then opened up a seven points (14-7) as they went on a 7-0 run capped by a Yenor dunk at the 13:07 mark in the opening half. Tars Hold Off Pesky Vaqueros.

 The Rollins Tars improved to 2-2 on the season after a 92-79 win over a pesky Puerto Rico Bayamon squad that fell to 0-2 on the year inside Warden Arena on Monday night. Rollins had four players score in double figures on the night, while Bayamon saw Bryan Gonzalez score 49 of the teams 79 points.   Rollins scored the games first five points as Matheus Silviera hit a jumper and Hutton Yenor knocked down a 3-pointer. The Vaqueros would respond with the next six points as Gonzalez would score on an old fashioned three-point play and then knock down a conventional triple. The first of his eight triples on the night. The game would go back and forth, after a pair of Gonzalez free throws it was tied at 18 at the 12:18 mark of the opening half. Gonzalez knocked down his fourth 3-pointer but Cam Corcoran would hit one of his four triples for the Tars to knot the game at 21. Tars Tripped Up By Eagles.

 The Rollins College Tars (1-2 0-1 SSC) fell 88-82 to the Embry-Riddle Eagles at Warden Arena Saturday. Hutton Yenor led the Tars with 22 points- Matheus Silvera had 17- Kyle Marion tallied 16- and- Cade Long netted 14 in the loss.  ERAU (3-0 1-0 SSC) was paced by five players in double figures. Jack Dillard and Danny Sully each scored 13- Chris Murray netted 12- while Jon Allesandro and Michael McCalister each scored 11.  Rollins  jumped out to a 13-7 lead early on after a Marion layup at the 15:26 mark of the opening half. After a Yenor hoop three minutes later the Tars led by 12 (25-13.) The Eagles went on a 8-0 run to cut the lead to four (25-21) at the 10 minute mark of the first half. The Tars would stretch the lead 10 (33-23) after a Yenor 3-pointer at the 7:57 mark of the first half.  The Rollins College Tars welcome the Embry-Riddle Eagles to Warden Arena on Saturday for a 4 PM Tip. Cold Shooting Rollins Throttled By Benedict.

 The Rollins College Tars (1-1) could not find their footing at Benedict College Saturday night and were throttled 76-49 by the Tigers as each team is now 1-1 on the year.   The Tars were paced by Hutton Yenor with 19 points and 10 from Cody Potter. The Tars shot a frigid 26.8 percent from the field and 32 percent (8-25) from the 3-point line. They shot at a 73 percent clip (11-15) at the free throw line. Rollins had 10 assists and 19 turnovers in the contest.   Benedict was led by 19 points from Brandon Smith, while Tim Moore scored 16, Malachi McCoy tallied 12, and Brandon Beidelman scored 10 for the Tigers. Rollins Takes On Host Benedict In South Region Crossover Saturday.

 The Rollins College Tars will take on the host Benedict Tigers on Saturday at 430 PM in day two of the South Region crossover. Hutton Yenor paced the Tars with 20, Kyle Marion added 18, and Cam Corcoran knocked down five 3-pointer's in the Rollins win.    Benedict (0-1) was a 67-59 loser to Florida Tech in the opener for both teams yesterday. Malachi McCoy led the Tigers with 18 points, while Gob Gabriel knocked down four 3-pointer's on his way to a 14 point night. The Tigers shot 33 percent from the field, and 42 percent from the 3-point line in the loss. Trio Leads Tars To Opening Win.

 The Rollins College Tars opened the 2022-23 season on Friday night at the South Region Cross Over hosted by Benedict University on the campus of Benedict College. Led by the trio of Kyle Marion, Cam Corcoran, and Hutton Yenor Rollins slipped past the Auburn University Montgomery WarHawks 85-83. Yenor led Rollins with 20 points, Marion netted 18, and Corcoran knocked down five triples in his collegiate debut as the Tars hung on after a late rally by the Warhawks fell short. Jalen Gaston scored 27 points, and Joseph Lanzi had 23 to lead the WarHawks. With the win Rollins improves to 4-0 all time against AUM. The Tars will be back in action for day two of the South Region crossover when they take on the host Benedict Tigers. Tars Battle AUM In South Region Crossover.

 The Rollins College Tars open the 2022-23 season when they take on Auburn University Montgomery in the South Region crossover tomorrow night in Columbia, South Carolina. You can catch all the action on 91.5 FM WPRK and worldwide on the SSC Digital Network with Jim "Shooter" Ferro and Robert Siegel on the call.  Tip time is set for 5:30 PM.  Rollins is coming off a 14-15 season which included 9-11 in SSC play last year. They scored 78.9 points per game while they allowed 80.3 points per night. They shot 47.7 percent from the field and 36 percent from the 3-point line last season. The duo of Hutton Yenor (21.2 points per game) and Kyle Marion (17.2 points per night) are the top returning scorers. Marion led the team in assists a season ago and Yenor is the top returning rebounder. Also back from last season's squad are Cody Potter, Cade Long, Rivers Lenholt and Sergei Grishaev.
