Tars Take Care Of Business on Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars played in the third game of a three game in three nights stretch walked away with a 86-75 win over the Puerto Rico Bayamon Vaqueors at Warden Arena on Wednesday. With the win Rollins improved to 5-2 on the season, while the Vaqueros dropped to 0-2 on the young campaign.   Hutton Yenor led Rollins with 21 points, Cade Long netted 19. while Kyle Marion had 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.   Bryan Gonzalez paced Bayamon with 27, while Sebastien Santiago knocked down five triples on his way to 18 points.   The Tars jumped out to a 9-5 lead after a Long 3-pointer four minutes in. The next four points would go to the Vaqueros before a Yenor dunk put Rollins back on top. Halfway through the first stanza after a Will Erickson 3-pointer the Tars opened up a six point advantage. Tars Look To Bounce Back Wednesday.

 The Rollins College Tars (4-2) look to bounce back from a 94-89 loss to Southeastern when they battle Puerto Rico Bayamon on Wednesday afternoon. Tip time is set for 2 PM and you can catch all the action on RollinsSports.com and on 91.5 FM WPRK with Jim "Shooter" Ferro and Robert Segal on the call.   The Tars come into Wednesday averaging 84.5 points per game, while they allow 78.7 points per contest. They are shooting 49 percent from the field, 42 percent from the 3-point line, and 81 percent at the free throw line. The Tars are being out rebounded by more than two per game (39.7-37.2.) They are 19.7 assists a game, and also are getting eight steals per contest. Kyle Marion is one of three Rollins players averaging double figures on the season as he is putting up 20.5 points per game, Hutton Yenor is scoring 15.2 per contest, and Dayton Gumm is averaging 10.5 per game. Fire Knock Off Tars.

 The Rollins Tars had a big lead and barley hung on last night, the Tars looked like they had a little bit of carry over from the end of that one to the beginning of tonight's game. That would ultimately cost them in a 94-89 loss to the Southeastern Fire. With the loss the Tars fell to 4-2. The Fire stayed perfect at 6-0 on the season after the victory.   The teams traded baskets early in the first half. Neither team could find their rhythm offensively. Rollins lead 6-5 at the first media timeout of the contest, and then the game was tied at 12 at the under 12 timeout. After Rollins got 3-pointers from Cade Long and Cody Potter they led 20-19 with 9:35 in the first stanza. The Fire would see Riley Minix score the next five points to take a 24-20 advantage with 8:39 in the first stanza.  The Rollins Tars will continue a busy thanksgiving week as they play the second night of a back to back when they battle Southeastern at Warden Arena. Tip time is set for 7 PM inside Warden Arena. The Tars were led by Kyle Marion who had 24 points, Hutton Yenor added 21, wile Cody Potter tallied 12.  Rollins is paced by Marion who puts up 21 points per contest, Yenor scores 14.6 a night, while both Dayton Gumm and Potter tally 10.8 per game. Gumm leads the team in assists with 19, while Cluxton leads Rollins on the glass grabbing 8.6 rebounds per contest. Tars Hang On Against Warner.

 The Rollins College Tars jumped out to a big first half lead and hung on late for a 87-80 win over Warner to open a stretch of three games in three days at Warden Arena Monday. With the win the Tars improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Royals fall to 6-2 on the year.   Rollins came out of the gates hot at both ends as they would score the games first 12 points. After a pair of Hutton Yenor free throws it was 12-0 at the 16:15 mark of the opening half. After a Cody Potter 3-pointer at the 11 minute mark of the first half it was a 15 point advantage (25-10) for the home team. Kyle Marion would knock down a three of his own to make it 40-21 6:35 later. The biggest Rollins lead of the half was 22 (47-25) after a Will Erickson 3-pointer at the 2:08 mark of the half.  The Rollins Tars will start a busy thanksgiving week as they play for the first of three consecutive days on Monday when they host former Assistant Coach Sean Hanrahan and his Warner Royals on Monday night. The Tars were led by 15 points and six assists from Dayton Gumm, while they also got 13 points each from Kyle Marion and Cody Potter, as Hutton Yenor added nine. The Tars struggled shooting the ball, shooting at a 37 percent clip from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line. Tars Drop One At PBA Saturday.

 The Rollins College Tars coming off a 10 point win over #2 Flagler earlier the week would not be able to carry the momentum as they would fall 79-71 to Palm Beach Atlantic at Rubin Arena Saturday night. With the loss Rollins fell to 3-1 on the season (0-1 SSC.) With the victory PBA improved to 2-2 (1-0 SSC). The Sailfish scored the first four to start this one and Rollins led 12-10 before a 10-0 run by the Sailfish put them up 20-12 after a Nate Ward layup at the 9:55 mark of the opening half. The Tars would score the next five but the Sailfish would stretch the lead back to seven (27-20) at the five minute mark of the opening half. It would be 31-27 in favor of PBA at halftime after a Dayton Gunn dunk pulled the Tars within four.   A Yenor jumper and a Will Erickson 3-pointer would give Rollins the lead with 18:52 to go. Rollins Looks To Stay Perfect As They Travel To PBA Saturday.

 The Rollins Tars will look to stay perfect on Saturday as they will travel to West Palm Beach to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday at Rubin Arena. Kyle Marion scored 21 of his career high 31 points to pace the Tars in the win. Cody Potter had 15, Hutton Yenor scored 14, Dayton Gumm tallied 12, and Brooks Cluxton added a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds at Flagler Gym. Marion Ignites Rollins To Road Win As Tars Stay Perfect.

 Kyle Marion scored 21 of his 31 first half points to ignite the Rollins College Tars (3-0) to a 84-74 win over the Flagler Saints (1-2) at Flagler Gym on Tuesday night. Marion was one of five Tars in double figures on the evening.   It was a slow start for the Tars as it was Flagler that jumped out to a 18-8 lead after a pair of Callum Baker free throws at the 14:49 mark of the first half. The Tars would pull to within one (23-22) after a Marion jumper with 10:26 in the opening frame. After a Marion free throw tied the game at 33, Jaizec Lottie would knock down a 3-pointer to briefly put the Saint up by three, but the Tars would close the half on a 12-0 run as Marion would score five points, Dayton Gumm would make a layup and a 3-pointer before Cody Potter would score the last points of the half on a pair of free throws.  Marion would score his 21 points on 9 of 14 shooting in the first 20 minutes, while Gumm added eight points. Tars Head To Saint Augustine To Battle Flagler Tuesday.

 The Rollins Tars (2-0) head to Saint Augustine to take on the Flagler Saints (1-1) at Flagler Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Tip time is scheduled for 7 PM. The game will be the first road game of the season for the Tars, while it will be the home opener for the Saints.   In the first two games of the season, Rollins is averaging 88 points per game while they are allowing 72.5 points per contest. Rollins is shooting 50 percent from the field, and 44 percent from the 3-point line in the young season. Another thing the Tars have done very well in the first two games is share the ball, as they average 22 assists per contest.   A trio of Tars led by Kyle Marion (18.5 points per game) are averaging double figures thus far this season. Tars Place Six In Double Figures As They Roll Past AUM.

 The Rollins Tars improved to 2-0 on the season as they placed six players in double figures in a 101-77 win over Auburn Montgomery. With the loss AUM drops to 1-1 on the year.   Rollins jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in this one. AUM would get to within two (13-11) before a three-point play by Brooks Cluxton. Rollins would extend the lead to 10 (30-20) after Sergey Grisheav drilled a triple at the 5:19 mark of the opening half. After the WarHawks trimmed by the lead to five Rollins would get back to back 3-pointers by Dayton Gumm to expand the lead to 13 (42-29.) A Gumm 3-pointer right before halftime would give Rollins a 47-31 lead heading into the locker room.   After a Hutton Yenor jumper two minutes into the second half Rollins led by 21 (54-33.) Late Spurt Lifts Rollins To Opening Win.

 Down one with 1:04 to go the Rollins Tars scored the games final eight points to secure a 75-68 win over Benedict in the South Region crossover at Warden Arena. With the win Rollins improves to 1-0 while Benedict drops to 0-1 in defeat.   The trio of Kyle Marion, Hutton Yenor, and Sergey Grishaev combined for 60 of the Tars points in the victory. Marion paced the Tars with 26 points- Yenor added 18- and- Grishaev added 16 in the win. The Tars shot 42 percent as a team- 25 percent (7-28) from the 3-point line- and- 73 percent (16-22) from the free throw line.   The Tigers were led by Tahj Green with 22 points and 16 rebounds- Timothy Bing added 18- and- Marshaun West added 10. Malachi McCoy narrowly missed a double-double scoring nine points and pulling down 11 rebounds. The Tigers shot 34 percent from the field- and- went 3 of 22 from the 3-point line. Tars Open Season With Benedict, and Auburn Montgomery In South Region Tip Off.

 The Rollins College Tars led by legendary coach Tom Klusman who enters his 41st season are excited to get back to some normalcy in the 2021-22 basketball campaign. Last season the Tars only played one game in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament after the regular season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The Tars fell to Florida Southern in that game, as Hutton Yenor had a career high 32 points in the defeat. Yenor, Kyle Marion, and Dayton Gumm are amongst the Tars returning for a team that was picked to finish eighth in the SSC Preseason poll. The Tars will open the season at 4:30 today (Friday) when they take on Benedict, before taking on Auburn Montgomery tomorrow (Saturday) at 4:30. Both games will be played at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Yenor averaged 12.9 points per game in the last full Rollins season back in the 2019-20 campaign.
