Looking To Flip The Script

 The Rollins College Tars head to West Palm Beach on Saturday (2/1) to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Salfish. The Tars look to flip the script, as they have lost six straight to PBA. The game is scheduled to tip off at 4 PM from Rubin Arena with Robert Segal and Jim "Shooter" Ferro on the call on 91.5 FM WPRK Winter Park and on SunshineStateConference.TV   The Tars (12-8 5-6 SSC) have been off since Saturday when they picked up a 90-80 win over Barry. Five Rollins players scored in double figures in the win paced by Beau Frericks with 22. Emillis Butkus tallied 20, Sergey Grishaev added 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while Matus Malovec added 12, and Michael Niemann notched 11. Rollins Has Rare MidWeek Bye As They Prepare For The Homestretch,

 The Rollins College Tars (12-8 5-6 SSC) get to enjoy there 90-80 win at home over Barry on Saturday a little more. After gaining the season split with the Buccaneers behind five players scoring in double figures, including a career high 11 points from Michael Niemann that sparked the Rollins bench to go along with 22 points from Beau Frericks, 20 from Emillis Butkus, 13 points, eight rebounds, and six assists from Sergey Grishaev and 12 points from Matus Malovec the Tars improved to one game under .500 in the Sunshine State Conference. Spark From Bench And Rebounding Power Tars To Crucial Home Win

 Basketball has a funny way of working itself. Both the Rollins College Tars and Barry Buccaneers were short-handed on Saturday, each team missing a key player due to injury. Rollins was +18 on the boards (43-25) and got a spark from Michael Niemann, who had a career high 11 points off the bench as they picked up a 90-80 win at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. With the win Rollins improves to 12-8 and 5-6 in the SSC. Barry falls to 8-11 and 4-7 in the SSC following the defeat.   In a game that featured three ties and seven lead changes the two teams traded baskets early. Down 10-6 Rollins would get a 3-pointer from Mateus Malovec followed by a Beau Frericks triple to take a 12-10 lead with 15:41 in the first half. Tars Battle Barry As They Look To Improve In Conference Standings

 The Rollins College Tars (11-8 4-6 SSC) look to improve in the conference standings as they battle the Barry Buccaneers (8-10 4-6 SSC) on Saturday at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Rollins Dismantled by #20 Florida Southern Despite 30 and 10 from Grishaev

 The Rollins College and Florida Southern Moccassins did battle on Wednesday night from the Streamline Court Inside the George Jenkins Field House. Despite 30 points and 10 rebounds from Sergey Grishaev the Tars were dismantled 98-82 by the Mocs. With the loss Rollins falls to 11-8 and 4-6 in the SSC. #20 FSC improves to 16-4 and 7-3 in the SSC following the win.   Alex Steen opened the scoring with a dunk for the Mocs but Grishaev knocked down a three to open the scoring for the Tars. The Mocs would open up a 12 point lead as they led 17-5 after a Joe Moon triple with 16:38 in the opening half.  The Rollins College Tars (11-7 4-5 SSC) are set to renew the longest standing rival that they have in the Sunshine State Conference as they head to Lakeland to take on the Florida Southern College Moccassins (15-4 6-3 SSC) at the Jenkins FieldHouse. Defense Tightens Up Late As Rollins Rallies To Outlast ERAU in Overtime

 The Rollins College Tars trailed 67-57 with 7:11 left in regulation at Warden Arena. The Tars would not give up another field goal for the remainder of regulation and would rally to force overtime. In overtime the Tars would outscore Embry-Riddle 16-10 to grab the 87-81 win. Beau Frericks paced the Tars with 26 points, John Latimer added 20 and Emillis Butkus scored 19 in the win. That win improved Rollins to 11-7 and 4-5 in the SSC. Jerry Bracey led Embry-Riddle with 16 points and Hussein Yassin tallied 14 in the loss.  The Rollins College Tars (10-7 3-5 SSC) fresh off a 78-67 win over Eckerd on Wednesday will take on the Embry-Riddle Eagles (11-5 5-3 SSC) at Warden Arena inside the Alfond Sports Center. Rollins Trio Combines For 57 Points in Road Win

 The Rollins College Tars traveled to Saint Pete College Griggs Campus Gym on Wednesday night for a SSC battle. The Tars got 57 points from the trio of Emillis Butkus, Beau Frericks, and Sergey Grishaev as they came away with a 78-67 win. With the win Rollins improves to 10-7 and 3-5 in the SSC. The Tars eclipsed the nine wins that they posted last season on Wednesday. Eckerd falls to 8-9 and 3-6 in the SSC despite 28 points from Isaiah Placide and 18 from Koa Baker.  Eckerd held the lead early until Butkus knocked down a 3-ball to give Rollins a 7-5 lead at the 16:55 mark of the first half. A Mateus Malovec triple extended the Rollins lead to five. After an Ian Hart layup in the paint just over eight minutes in Rollins had a 22-14 edge with 11:41 until halftime. Rollins Looks To Get Back On Track In Saint Pete Wednesday

 The Rollins College Tars (9-7 2-5) will look to get back on track Wednesday after a loss to Lynn last time out when they take on the Eckerd College Tritons (8-8 3-5 SSC) in Saint Pete. The game will be played at Gibbs Campus Gym in Saint Pete  as the McArthur Center suffered hurricane damage. 65 Point Second Half By Lynn Sinks Tars Saturday

 The Rollins College Tars held the Lynn Fighting Knights to 32 points in the first half on Saturday and held a 37-32 lead at the intermission at Warden Arena. Things completely flipped in the second half as Lynn got anything they wanted on the offensive end to score 65 second half points. Lynn improved to 10-4 and 5-3 in the SSC with the win. Rollins falls to 9-7 and 2-5 in the SSC following the defeat.   Rollins jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first 2:10 of the contest as Emillis Butkus scored four of those points while Sergey Grishaev had the other hoop. Latimer Layup At The Buzzer Lifts Rollins To Home Win.

 John Latimer made a layup at the buzzer to lift the Rollins College Tars to a thrilling 72-70 win over the Saint Leo Lions at Warden Arena on Wednesday night. Rollins improves to 9-6 and 2-4 in the SSC after the thriller. Saint Leo falls to 7-8 and 2-5 in the SSC after the crushing defeat.  Defense dominated the early stages of this one as Rollins held Saint Leo scoreless for the games first 5:50 but they only led 6-3 as a 3-pointer by the Lions Brady Corso cut the lead in half at the 14:10 mark of the first half. The game was closely played for the next five minutes and a triple by Emillis Butkus at the 9:50 mark of the first half gave Rollins a 18-14 lead. The final 10 minutes of the first half saw neither team have bigger than a six point lead. It would be 36-33 in favor of the Tars at halftime. Four Tars Score Double Figures In Loss At Tampa.

 Winning on the road is hard enough in the Sunshine State Conference. When you turn the ball over and get killed on the offensive glass it is nearly impossible. That was the case on Saturday as Rollins lost 99-92 at the Bob Martinez Center at the University of Tampa.  Rollins turned the ball over 18 times and gave up 23 offensive rebounds in the defeat. Emillis Butkus scored a career high for the second straight game with 26, Beau Frericks had 21, Sergey Grishaev added 16, John Latimer added 13 points, seven rebounds and dished out seven assists.  Perhaps all the Rollins College Tars needed was a new year as they rung in 2025 with a bang. The Tars got 25 points from Emillis Butkus, Sergey Grishaev added 20, John Latimer scored 19 and pulled down a career high 10 rebounds, while Beau Frericks stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists in a 92-66 pummelling of the Florida Tech Panthers on Wednesday afternoon at the Clemente Center in Melbourne. Rollins improved to 8-5 and 1-3 in the SSC with the win.
